There was a light hitting her eyes, an annoying light.

Why is it so bright in my room?

Wishing she could get more rest, she turned over to do so when a loud crash came from somewhere outside of the room.

Amaryllis sat up instantly, pushing herself to stand, slowly regaining her memory of the night before as she pushed herself towards the where the sound came from, when she heard another crash and then a curse.

There was only one person who would let out a string of curses when she dropped anything.

"Nova, what's the matter?" She asks, opening the door to the kitchen, looking around to where Nova was busy clearing a broken plate from the ground.

Without even looking, Nova huffs, sweeping the broken pieces into the nearest bin. "I was making breakfast for you and there was an unwelcome visitor in the kitchen."

Amaryllis looked around, wondering if there had been a mouse or something along those lines, but she saw nothing but Nova breathing harshly and avoiding the table.

"An unwelcome visitor?"

Nova nods, glancing between her and the table. "Completely unwelcome- I think it ran off now but even so, I hope it keeps its disgusting little legs away from me and anything around me from now on."

Amaryllis blinks, then tries not to laugh. "So a spider crawled up next to you while you were preparing breakfast?"

"It's not funny! Spiders are the most evil insect and they have no business coming anywhere near me or my personal space."

Amaryllis takes a deep breath as she walks over to help but Nova stops her. "No need. I've got it handled, you go back and rest some more Lis, you shouldn't strain yourself." She says taking the plate Amaryllis had picked up from her and placing it on the table again, then shooing her back towards the door.

"Wait but I can help-"

"Yes but you're supposed to be resting. Please My Lady, you know how much of a nag the Royal Doctor is when you refuse to rest on his order, he won't yell at you but he sure as hell will yell at Lucy and I."

"Just you both?"

"Yes. He would never yell at Luna, he caught someone yelling at her once as she cried- he sent them down to the stables for two months. Alone. He adores Luna, he won't hurt her feelings by yelling at her or being rude unlike the rest of us."

"I'm sure that's not that's not true, but also Nova, I feel perfectly fine, I want to help-"

"I thought I made it clear that you were supposed to stay in bed." A new voice says from behind them, an older, more stern voice.

Amaryllis turns to look at Joaquin, the Royal Physician, an elderly man who had known her since she was a child and her parents before her, he had worked for the royal and noble families of the kingdom for most of his life, paying particularly close attention to Amaryllis especially when she was ill or injured.

"Joaquin, you're back."

Joaquin shakes his head, glancing at Nova sternly as he stepped closer to them. "I actually never left, I slept in one of the guest rooms, I hope that was alright." He says leading her away from Nova who had rolled her eyes behind his back as they walked off, returning to the kitchen to fetch Amaryllis breakfast and hopefully not run into anymore invading insects.

"I feel fine Joaquin, you worry too much."

Joaquin pinches her arm slightly, causing her to flinch away in surprise. "Ouch! What in the king's name was that for?"
