The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) was always a hub of activity, but when she walked in, the entire atmosphere shifted. Papers shuffled faster, and the soft buzz of phones seemed to disappear as everyone became more alert.
"Mr. Mehta, I need these files by the end of the day," came a sharp, authoritative voice. The whole office tensed, eyes glued to their workstations, not daring to look up.
"Ji, madam," the staff responded in unison, their voices respectful and a little rushed.
She turned to Sumit,a staff member, next. "Sumit, I need the new law bill. Mr. Prime minister wants to review it again," she said firmly, making it clear how important it was. With that, she walked into her cabin, leaving a wake of silence behind her.
Once the door clicked shut, the tension in the room eased slightly. One of the new interns leaned over and whispered, "Is she really the same person I saw outside? She was so nice when she spoke to me!"
Before the intern can reply Mr. Mehta said, who had seen this scene many times, smiled knowingly. "Yes, that's her. Outside the office, she's friendly and easy-going. But in here, she's all business, especially when it comes to work for the Prime Minister. She doesn't like mixing personal and professional life."
The intern, still confused, asked, "But who is she?"
Mr. Mehta paused before answering, "Advika Kohli. She's the Prime Minister's personal secretary. Outside the office, she's kind and bubbly, but inside here, especially in the PMO, she's one of the strictest people you'll ever meet."
The intern blinked, realizing why the whole office had fallen silent when she entered.
The PMO slowly resumed its usual pace, though the air still carried a sense of alertness. The new intern, though, couldn't stop thinking about the transformation she had just witnessed. She had seen Advika Kohli outside, laughing and chatting casually, and now, the same woman commanded the entire office with just a few words.
As the intern settled back into her work, the door to Advika's cabin opened slightly. Advika stepped out, her expression calm but focused. She scanned the room before addressing Mr. Mehta again.
"Mr. Mehta, please send a reminder to the legal team. The Prime Minister is expecting their review on the bill soon."
Mr. Mehta nodded quickly, "I'll take care of it, madam."
As she turned to leave, the new intern, still curious, found herself blurting out, "Madam?"
Advika paused, turning slightly to face her. Her expression softened a little, but her professional aura remained intact. "Yes?" she asked, her tone polite but distant.
The intern stammered for a second before finding her words. "I just... I just wanted to say it's really inspiring to see how you work. You're so different here than outside."
