The library search

The air in the old library was musty and thick with the scent of aged parchment. Steren ran her fingers along the spines of the dusty tomes, searching for any clue that might shed light on the fateful night when the moon had shattered. Gale stood beside her, his brow furrowed in concentration as he scanned the shelves.

"There has to be something here that can tell us what caused it," Sterene murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "The historians must have documented the event, even if they didn't fully understand it at the time."

Gale nodded, his eyes narrowing as he pulled a weathered volume from the shelf. "This looks promising - 'The Celestial Cataclysm: Eyewitness Accounts of the Shattering of the Moon'." He flipped it open, his fingers tracing the faded text. "Listen to this: 'On that fateful night, the sky lit up with a blinding flash, followed by a thunderous roar that shook the very foundations of the earth. The moon, which had hung in the heavens for as long as any living soul could remember, simply...broke apart, its shimmering fragments raining down upon us like tears from the heavens.'"

Steren leaned in, her heart pounding. "What else does it say? Anything about what caused it?"

Gale shook his head, his expression grim. "Not much, I'm afraid. The accounts are mostly just descriptions of the event itself - the panic, the destruction, the utter bewilderment of the people who witnessed it." He sighed, closing the book. "We're still no closer to understanding the true cause."

Steren felt a surge of frustration. They had come to the library hoping to find answers, but it seemed the event that had so drastically altered the world they knew remained shrouded in mystery. She leaned against the bookshelf, her gaze drifting to the window, where the broken remnants of the moon still hung in the sky, a constant reminder of the cataclysm that had changed everything.

Gale reached out, gently squeezing her hand. "Hey, don't give up. There has to be more information out there somewhere. We just have to keep looking."

Steren offered him a small, grateful smile. "You're right. We've come this far, and I'm not about to stop now. The answers are out there, we just have to be patient and persistent."

Together, they turned back to the shelves, their fingers tracing the spines of the books, each one holding the potential to unlock the secrets of the fallen night.

Steren sighed as she flipped through the aged pages of the dusty tome, her brow furrowed in concentration. Beside her, her best friend and constant companion, Gale, was equally absorbed in his own research, his fingers tracing the intricate illustrations on the library's ancient scrolls.

The two of them had been coming to this secluded corner of the grand library for hours now, ever since that fateful moment when the moon had shattered into a million glittering shards, plunging the world into chaos and uncertainty. They knew they had to uncover the truth behind this cataclysmic event - the cause of the moon's destruction and the implications it held for their world.

"Anything new?" Gale murmured, not looking up from the weathered parchment.

Steren shook her head, frustrated. "No, just the same old stories and legends. Nothing concrete about what actually happened." She leaned back in her chair, running a hand through her tangled hair. "It's like the answers are just out of reach, you know? We're so close, but I feel like we're missing something crucial."

Gale nodded, his brow furrowed in thought. "Yeah, I know what you mean. All these accounts talk about the moon's importance, its connection to the very fabric of our world, but none of them explain how or why it could have been destroyed like that." He paused, then added, "Do you think it was an accident? Or something more sinister?"

Steren chewed on her lip, considering the question. "I don't know," she admitted. "Part of me wants to believe it was just some freak occurrence, some natural disaster beyond our understanding. But another part of me..." She shook her head, unable to voice the darker, more unsettling possibility.

Gale shook his head, his brow furrowed. "I'm not sure, but it sounds like we're not the only ones searching for answers." He looked up, his eyes locking with hers. "Steren, I think we're in over our heads here. This is bigger than we ever imagined."

Suddenly, Steren's finger stopped on a particular passage, her eyes widening. "Gale, look at this."

"What is it?" Gale answers looking up from his book

Steren's fingers traced the ornate lettering on the page before her. "According to this ancient text, the shattering of the moon was foretold centuries ago...as a sign of the coming of a great evil."

"An evil?" Gale whispered. "What kind of evil?"

Steren's expression was grave. "One that will plunge the world into darkness," she murmured. "Unless...unless the Chosen Ones can stop it."
