It's been weeks since the Funeral of Mrs Lisa Thompson, it has also been weeks since River locked himself in his room refusing to accept the reality. He just couldn't believe that his mom was gone, it was still like a dream to him, that he wishes to wake up from.

He never got close to the school compound after the news of his mother got to him, after the funeral, he had locked himself in her room, rarely eats, nor take any calls ( cloud, Jasper, Ava included).

Eliza tried her best to make him eat, but it was all pointless, as she always meet the food the same way she kept it.

Two weeks exactly after the funeral, 7 : 0 9am the door of river's door finally creaked open, with sunken weary eyes, messy hair, red cheeks, and looking dull, River cane out of his room with slow and weak steps.

With his school bag on his right shoulder, and his usual headset on, River walked down the staircase towards the sitting room.

Eliza who walked out of the kitchen, after having having her breakfast and dressed for school stopped on her tracks, she never expected to see her brother that day, that hour nor minute.

     H-hi" she stuttered.

River gave her a weak smile, trying to back the tears that were forcing their way out, Eliza quickly hugged him tight, as she couldn't hold herself back too.

Mr Thompson, walked out of his room immediately, ready for work, with his 💼 on his left hand, he turned sorrowful immediately at the sight before him.

Guess who finally stepped out" Eliza smiled as she withdrew from the hug.

Hey son" Mr Thompson smiled as he pecked River's cheeks.

Come let me prepare for you a quick breakfast, you can't go to to school on empty stomach" Eliza said as she scurried into the kitchen.

River's weak smile faltered as he gazed at his father's concerned expression.

"I'll be okay, Dad," River whispered, his voice cracking.

   Mr. Thompson's eyes moistened.

"I'm proud of you, son. Your mom would want you to keep moving forward."

Eliza returned with a tray, bearing toast, scrambled eggs, and juice.

     "Eat up, River!" she encouraged.

River took a bite, the flavors reviving his senses.

As he ate, his father checked his watch.

"I'll drop you and Elizabeth off at school. We can't be late on your first day back."

River nodded, his stomach fluttering with anxiety.

The drive to school was quiet, each lost in thought.

As they arrived, River's heart swelled with gratitude.

         "Thanks, Dad."

Mr. Thompson smiled. "Anytime, son. You're strong, and Elizabeth watch out for your brother."
