KRYPTONIAN genetics were a fascinating thing to the normal mind. Superior to the baseline human biology in every way, the alien species was almost unanimously considered to be the peak of evolution—a sentiment that was not shared by the likes of someone like Lex Luthor.

Lex saw the Kryptonians—saw Superman—for what they were. Threats to the human race. Threats that had managed to thoroughly convince the mass public that they meant no harm. That they were simply here to protect. It didn't matter that time and time again the capes had proven that they were more trouble than they were worth. The people saw a figure capable of more, and like they often did—rallied behind them with unwavering loyalty and devotion.

Put upon a pedestal like a God.

Yet completely undeserving of it. Not the way Lex did.

As more people fell victim to the curse of the idolization of Superman and the Justice League, Lex's anger and resentment grew. Something had to be done.

It was rare for Lex to just sit around and wait for an opportunity to arise, no he was much more complex than that. Lex was a man who preferred to create the odds rather than play them. So, when the idea arose to better one of his past failures...who was he to resist?

PROJECT LILITH was never meant to kill Superman. Not after it had been proven on multiple occasions that the Man of Steel always had another trick up his sleeve. But the thought of creating something capable of controlling arguably the most powerful man on earth? That was what Lex was after.

The means to prove that Superman wasn't the only Godlike being worthy of worship.

Everything was just as it should be. With Lex toe-to-toe with his most formidable adversary, and a living weapon of Kryptonian destruction at his disposal to use at his will. At least, that was until the brat vanished on him into thin air and ran right into the arms of his enemy.

Lilith might've gained her will, but she will always be Lex's creation. Sooner or later, she'd learn why it was a bad idea to cross him.
