Author here. So as I said; my novelette here is based off of the short story "The Lady, or the Tiger?" by Frank R. Stockton, originally written in 1882.
The basic bare bones of Stockton's version is that the man is being punished and must pick between two different doors which either hold behind them a wife he must marry or a tiger ready to eat him. I kept this ending in my version but I leave it to you the reader to decide which door you want Caius to pick by reading either the chapter(s): The Left Door or The Right Door. OR if you want Caius to pick neither door, read the chapter "No Door".
*I would note to readers that if you prefer happy ends, you might skip over chapters: The Left Door and The Right Door, and instead go straight to the chapter: No Door. Or you can read all three chapters and see what would happen to Caius in these different scenarios. YOUR turn to pick a door by picking a chapter ;)
Happy Reading!
