As the second day back at school unfolded, Sunny found herself sitting in her Art class, a mixture of excitement and anxiety swirling in her stomach. The teacher announced a group project, and as the groups were assigned, Sunny's heart raced when she heard her name called alongside Ibri and Bella.

"Sunny, Ibri, and Bella, you're up!" the teacher said, her voice cheerful. "I expect great things from you three!"

Sunny exchanged glances with Ibri, who flashed her an encouraging smile, while Bella squealed in delight. "This is going to be so much fun!" she exclaimed, leaning closer to Sunny.

Jed, sitting a few rows back, shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Sunny caught his eye, and for a brief moment, she saw a flicker of disappointment in his expression before he quickly masked it. It tugged at her heart, knowing he was left out, but she couldn't dwell on it now.

As the class ended and the students began to gather their things, Bella sidled up to Sunny, a gleam of excitement in her eyes. "Let's meet at my place after school to brainstorm!" she suggested, her voice animated. She casually placed a hand on Sunny's waist, giving it a gentle squeeze.

Sunny felt a rush of warmth at the touch, but also a slight unease. "Um, sure! That sounds good," she replied, trying to keep the tone light. "We can come up with some great ideas."

"Absolutely! Just the three of us, brainstorming like geniuses!" Bella said, her enthusiasm infectious.

Ibri grinned, looking between the two girls. "I'm looking forward to it. I have some ideas already, but I'm sure Bella has a few fun twists to add."

"Of course! I'll make it fabulous!" Bella chimed in, giving Sunny a playful nudge.

As they walked out of the classroom together, Sunny felt a mix of emotions. She enjoyed Bella's energy but was acutely aware of how possessive she could be. The way Bella touched her made Sunny feel special, yet a small part of her longed for some independence in their friendship.

After school, Sunny arrived at Bella's house, the familiar warmth of their friendship wrapping around her. Bella ushered them inside, her excitement palpable as they settled at the dining table with notebooks and snacks.

"So, what's our theme going to be?" Bella asked, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "I was thinking something artsy—like how art has influenced history. We could do a fun presentation!"

"That sounds cool!" Ibri replied, jotting down notes. "We could use some visuals too—maybe incorporate some famous artists and their impact on different eras?"

Sunny nodded, feeling the flow of creativity between them. "I love that idea! We can create a timeline with visuals and maybe even some short video clips."

As they brainstormed, Bella leaned in closer to Sunny, her shoulder brushing against hers. "You're so smart, Sunny. I love your ideas," she said, her voice softening.

Sunny felt her cheeks flush. "Thanks! I'm just trying to contribute."

As they dove deeper into the project, Bella's touches became more frequent—an occasional squeeze on Sunny's arm or a playful poke in the ribs. It felt affectionate, but Sunny couldn't shake the feeling of being too closely monitored, like Bella was making sure everyone knew they were a team.

Ibri caught the subtle shifts in the room and raised an eyebrow, giving Sunny an encouraging look. "We should definitely split up the work so it feels balanced," he suggested, sensing the tension between the girls.

"Good idea! I can handle the visuals," Bella declared, a spark of determination in her eyes. "Sunny, you can work on the research, right?"

"Sure! I can do that," Sunny replied, eager to contribute but also aware of Bella's insistence on keeping her in a specific role.

As the meeting wrapped up, Sunny felt a blend of excitement and apprehension about their project. While she appreciated Bella's enthusiasm, she wanted to make sure her own voice was heard.

Later that evening, as they were packing up, Sunny caught a glimpse of Jed outside the window, talking to a few friends. His expression looked a mix of frustration and embarrassment as he glanced their way. Sunny's heart sank—she wished he were part of this, but she also knew how competitive he could be.

"Hey, Sunny! Ready to take on the world?" Bella said, breaking her thoughts as she playfully nudged her.

"Yeah! Let's do this," Sunny replied, forcing a smile as she pushed aside her worries.

As they left Bella's house, Sunny felt a rush of uncertainty. With Bella's constant touches and enthusiasm, the lines of their friendship were becoming blurred. She couldn't deny the thrill of Bella's affection, but she also longed for clarity.

The next few weeks would be crucial, and Sunny hoped to navigate the complexities of her friendships—balancing the warmth of Bella's admiration with the camaraderie of Ibri and the lingering tension with Jed. She was ready to embrace the challenges ahead, determined to find her place among her friends.
