Jimin's pink hair is pulled back in with a head bend, his hands pressed to the window as he peers inside.
Pulling the blanket up, I close my eyes and hope he'll leave if I ignore him long enough, but all I get is him knocking again and giving me no choice but to acknowledge him.
I run my fingers through my hair and sit up, pulling on the sleeves of my top before climbing into the passenger seat and opening the door.
I stay settled in the seat as I reach onto the floor and pull my sneakers on as Jimin approaches from the driver's side.
"Have you been sleeping in your car?" he asks not so casually as he peeks inside.
I swallow the lump in my throat, calculating the perfect answer. The right thing to say to keep the pity out of his eyes, but I can't find them.
There isn't something for me to say that won't make it obvious that he's caught me red-handed.
My stomach churns as I run my fingers through my hair, brushing it off my face.
"It's only temporary... until I find a place," I tell him the truth.
He eyes me suspiciously but doesn't ask questions.
"Move over." He says as if not asking me.
"What?"
"You heard me," he says, waving his hand as he steps closer, resting his other hand on the door handle.
I watch his face for seriousness, and when I realize he is, I climb over the console and settle into the driver's seat. I pull the seat belt across my chest, clicking it into place as he climbs into the passenger seat and does the same.
"Go ahead, start the engine."
"Jimin, what are–" I am more than confused now.
"More driving, less inquiring. And its hyung for you too."
"Wha-" I debate whether to listen to him, but he's given me no choice but to follow his direction.
Slipping the key into the ignition, I start the engine and pull my gearshift into reverse. I don't know where he's taking me or why, but it seems like the only way to find out is to listen.
"Go left." He points as I pull out of my spot and take a left, heading further down the main road of town.
He continues to call out directions for me to follow until finally telling me to pull up on a gravel driveway next to an old orange Chevrolet jeep.
"Okay, come on, kill the engine." He doesn't wait for me to do so, barely even waiting for me to shift into park before throwing the door open and climbing out.
My brows knot in frustration as I pull my key from the ignition and get out to follow him.
"Jimin, what are you doing? Where are we?"
"Hyung." He shakes his head without turning.
"Why are we here Hyung?" I ask him, more conscious now.
"This is my place," he explains as he heads for the old wooden porch.
The split level sits right on the edge of the beach, the driveway turning into sand as we walk up the few steps to the brown painted door.
"I know we don't really know each other yet, but I need a roommate and you need a place to stay, so... it sounds like a perfect situation to me."
"Wait, you want me to live here?" I ask for clarification as he unlocks the door, the kind that splits in two.
He opens the bottom half, the top latched closed, allowing the whole door to open as he steps onto the hardwood floors.
