A massive mountain reveals itself before me, and behind that mountain, there is another, and another, and another: They seem to recede into infinity.

On them, long cables carry lifts up and down the imposing landmasses. Small cities dot their sloped faces, and large ones reside on the flat ground below. My jaw drops involuntarily.

"Quite the view, huh?" Ygrene remarks.

I notice the sprawling city around me. It is nothing like the Village or Ecarret city: the buildings are single-storied and leave wide berths between each other. Beings living in the area stroll to and fro, chatting softly. The entire place exudes intense clarity.

"What's this place called again?" Nur asks in awe.

"Eneres city," Ygrene responds proudly.

All three of us take in the serene sight.

"Alright," Ygrene suddenly announces, "This is where I leave you. Good luck on your journey."

He ambles away from us absentmindedly.

We stand in unexpected confusion.

"What now?" I ask.

"I—I didn't expect him to do that. I guess it fits his personality, though," Nur expresses, "I guess we should—"

"Look!" I exclaim.

I hold up the key I just discovered lying beneath my feet. Inscribed in it is a message:

NUR AND ESIR—KEEP THIS, BUT DO NOT REVEAL IT TO ANYONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

We stare at the object puzzledly.

"How—" Nur stutters.

"It seems our life is part of a much bigger puzzle than we thought," I note.

"Maybe Ygrene dropped it here for us?" Nur guesses.

"Whatever it is, someone knows much more about us than we do ourselves," I say, stunned.

"We need to find Ygrene," Nur states.

"Why?"

"We have no money! Where are we going to sleep? What are we going to eat? How are we going to survive?"

"How do we hide this key?" I whisper.

"We'll figure that out later. We need to find Ygrene."

Nur heads deeper into the city determinedly. I follow him, the strange key tightly held in my hands.

Who ARE we?

The question returns to my thoughts.

Who knows who we are?

A new question.

How can I find that person?

Another new question.
