Ok ok this may have some spoilers if you haven't read the book.

I feel like light of mine has so much foreshadowing and build ups to the climax of the story, either that or I'm wildly overestimating the amount of thought put into this, but here are some stuff I noticed and got a little excited over.

I know this doesn't LOOK like a lot at first but I've actually studied this part an embarrassing amount, I'm every English teachers dream student

"Uh, no, not really." Is such a good line, I know it's probably not meant to SOUND the way I'm thinking but, just hear me out.

That line has such an impact in my opinion, it feels like there's already a bit of distance between him and the states. Of course they CARE about him but they'll never understand his thoughts, it adds a bit of loneliness, seclusion, just a general build up of feeling alone with himself.

And this IMPACTS the end of the story, feeling like he has to do things by himself, Russia trying to chase after him and keep up with him, and this independence LEADS to his downfall, as he pushes Russia away in his panic.

Something else I LOVE about this story is that, no one is really a bad guy or a good guy. Everyone makes SOOO many mistakes.

America was abusive to Mexico in the past, America isn't our perfect main character, he's anxious  and paranoid and insecure, he's still working on himself SO much. It adds a depth that SO many stories on this platform lacks.

It's the same with Russia, he can't let go of the past, he's stuck in the same place he was before, figuratively and literally, stuck in his house, his habits, and his head. He's a seemingly independent strong man with a mask on his emotions, Russia slowly leans into Americas advances and acts of genuine kindness.

The end of light of mine REALLY hit me for Russias part, his father, USSR died of a similar thing that America dies to, this adds a heavy hopelessness over the last few chapters, Russia watches another loved one die in front of him, and there's nothing he can do about it, he can't mask it this time and he can't pretend it never happened, it's so unexpected and shocking to him, all he can do is comfort himself and America.

I really like this part too, this may just be an accident, but it REALLY seems like he's brushing off his feelings, pushing them away.

Ohhhh and this one
