J-High was hosting a Halloween fundraiser this year, and surprise surprise, the Architecture department was in charge of the haunted house. Vasco was beyond excited. Jace was just happy he managed to request doing the haunted house before any of the other departments.

As the rest of Burn Knuckles began to build the actual structure, Vasco and Jace were shopping for decorations and costumes. Leonne went along to make sure they didn't pick something ridiculous. They headed over to a party store, with Jace driving and Leonne giving directions from the back seat.

As soon as the three enter the store, Jace and Vasco lose Leonne completely. Jace mumbles something about it under his breath, nothing derogatory of course. Vasco, on the other hand, doesn't seem to mind, grabbing Jace's hand gently and tugging him toward the lawn decor aisles.

Jace trails behind him, trying not to smile about how excited his best friend is. He notices their magnetic bracelets had stuck together, but he makes no move to unstick them. He follows Vasco's turn into the aisle, and stops next to him.

"Do you have any ideas for what you want outside the attraction?" Jace asked, looking over at Vasco.

Vasco took a minute to look at all the options. "I really...don't know." He admitted softly, looking over at Jace. "Obviously, it has to be scary."

"Yes, but..." Jace starts. "Remember, there will be little kids there too probably. Just like year before last." He looks at the displays. "Mn, maybe some skeletons, some gravestones...We make it look like a haunted church like one of the guys suggested, ah?" He looks back at Vasco.

"You're so smart, Jace." Vasco says, some sort of strange affection in his voice. Jace's cheeks pinken, his ego swelling just a bit.

"Yeah, I kinda am." Jace chuckles softly. "Let's pick out some lawn skeletons."

Eventually, they had a decent amount of lawn decor, and had checked out, pushing their cart into the parking lot. Leonne was waiting by the car, arms crossed. "So, I got abandoned in there." She huffs, but there's no real anger there. She helps them put the decor into the car, and then takes the cart back inside.

Jace and Vasco buckle themselves into the front seats. Jace reaches over to check if Vasco's actually locked, the buckle being finicky sometimes. Leonne gets into the back, buckling up, and Jace began their drive back to the school.

The month passes by, All Hallows Eve finally upon them. The haunted house was all put together, spanning all through the Architecture department and out of their doors to the courtyard, which was decorated in all the little skeletons in silly poses.

Just before they opened the attraction to the public, Leonne approached both Vasco and Jace, holding up costumes from the party store. "Here you go, guys."

They take the costumes, and go to get changed. Jace steps out first, dressed in an iconic vampire costume, the first thing Leonne found in his size. He fixed his hair in the mirror of the bathroom, and adjusted the fangs. Before he could check on Vasco, one of the others popped their head in, telling him he's needed at the entrance.

He quickly does his little speech, reminding people of the rules, and then moves inside to look for Vasco. He was no longer in the bathroom, no traces of him at all. Jace moved out of the bathroom, confused as to where he could have gone. He sighed, beginning the search.
