Snapping. That was the first thing she heard. The steady tearing crackled through the air with each pop reverberating across her ears. The culprit of the noise was unknown, for all she could see was darkness. In fact, she couldn't feel anything except the gnawing hunger deep within her core. The emptiness became so palpable that it was all she had to go by. So she followed its whim, reaching through the abyss in whichever manner the hunger told her to.
She couldn't be sure how long it persisted like this but she quickly became aware of the light invading her senses. Suddenly, she found herself in a staring contest with the moon. She looked around and discovered the swaths of trees surrounding her. As she inspected the dense leaves, it struck her that she had no idea how she got there. Come to think of it, she didn't know anything at all. All she remembered was the hunger and now the trees. As she pressed through her thoughts only one word stood out to her.
A name, (Y/N).
She knew this was her and that was a start at least. She furrowed her brows and looked down at herself. She hadn't noticed until now that she was covered in a strange dark liquid. It was a strange purple hue and although it wasn't blood, it disturbed her all the same. Her heart rate quickened as she looked around in panic. She was so confused and the distress of not knowing how she got here was becoming incredibly real. That, and the hunger still stirred within her. It pulled at her consciousness and it didn't take her long to lose the battle of self-control. It willed her to turn around and she obeyed, yet her conviction didn't last long.
Something was watching her within the trees. Its glowing eyes stared into her and she took a step back in alarm. It crawled out of the shadows, revealing a hulking misshapen beast. It looked unnatural in all ways, yet the hunger urged her forward. Was this what she was starving for? It was vile, but she wasn't going to kill it. She wasn't even sure she could. But as it lurched towards her, it became increasingly clear it wanted to kill her instead.
She stumbled back, barely able to catch herself before hitting the ground. She tore off into the forest despite every bone in her body willing her to fight the creature. Her fear was far stronger than the void inside. Her clothes caught on branches as she ran but she didn't care, despite them leaving deep tears across the cloth. She ran until her legs were burning and just as they were about to give out, she saw an opening in the trees. She willed herself forward and burst through the treeline with harsh breaths.
A wide road spread out before her and she tumbled to her knees at the sight of it. No sooner had she done so, a blinding flash came into view. The fear once again shot through her veins and she scrambled back into the comfort of the shadows. She wasn't sure if the strange creature or the mysterious light was worse, but she didn't have time to consider it as they were fast approaching. They began to slow, followed by an overwhelming hum. A strange vehicle stopped before her. She was about to retreat once more, but the groan behind her stopped any further attempts at that. She decided to brave the vehicle, squinting her eyes to see someone emerge from it.
