After a long day at the cafe where Emma worked, she flopped face down on her bed exhausted. She had had enough of the annoying Karen customers, parents who let their children run loose and badmouth employees, and even her manager who was her bully in high school and constantly gives her more work than the others.

After lying on her bed for a bit, Emma grabbed her phone and opened up Snapchat, venting to the new friends she'd made online and launching into a full conversation on work and relationship stuff. After about half an hour, the front door opened her boyfriend Dylan walked inside, setting his stuff down and making his way upstairs. "Emma I'm home! You better be doing something productive!" (A/N: he's joking. He's not a red flag but he helped Emma out of a depressive state a few years ago and it's just been an inside joke since he didn't want her to experience that again.)

Emma heard him coming up the stairs and quickly said bye to her friends, putting the phone down and grabbing the nearest book, opening to a random page. Dylan opened the door and leaned over the book, kissing Emma's cheek. "Hey if you're gonna try and fool me, at least hold the book upright." Emma laughed and closed the book. "Yeah well I heard reading upside down strengthens your brain." She replied, reaching over and giving him a kiss.

Emma rested her head on Dylan's shoulder, closing her eyes and thinking about how to tell him that she wanted to quit her job. She took a deep breath and just said it, her heart pounding in her chest. "Hey do you think we could go out tonight? I have something I want to discuss and also don't feel like cooking."

Dylan nodded, smiling since Emma never asked if they wanted to go out and he missed going on date nights. "Yeah of course. We could go to Safe Harbor if you want and then go to the beach after." He suggested, looking to see Emma's reaction.

Emma nodded, knowing that was her favorite restaurant and that she had enough money saved for their meal. "Sounds good. Let me just take a shower first and then we can go." Dylan nodded as Emma went into the bathroom. "Take as long as you need."

Dylan got dressed and went downstairs to wait, scrolling on his phone and playing Roblox. He checked the time and saw ten minutes had already gone by. 'Jeez why do girls take forever? It takes guys like five minutes.' He thought, joining the Butcher Shop Obby while he waited.
