I finished my milk and cookies and when Daddy could see I was falling asleep he picked me up and carried me to my bed.
"What story do you want me to read?" Daddy said tucking me into bed
I looked over to my books on the shelf "make me up one" I giggled
"Okay baby girl" he said rubbing my head "you always liked this one"
He pretended to open a book up and he coughed "once upon a time there was a pretty princess called Aqua-"
"That's my name" I giggled. The princess has the same name as me
He laughed and tapped my nose which tickled "Yes it is darling. Aqua lived with her dad the king and his name was Jordan"-
"That's your name" I smiled rolling my blanket up
"Yes it is sweetheart. Her mum, Summer" he looked at me with a smile "yes that's mummy's name. Her mum didn't live with them because she was a beautiful fairy who had to go back to fairy world. One day the princess stumbled into a magic forest and made friends with a young boy named Niall who was a leprechaun."
Niall? I wonder why his name is Niall, Leprechauns are funny, they have pots of gold and live under the ground where the rainbow ends.
"Then they became best friends and grew up together. They went on magical adventures together-"
I feel so t-tired, I don't want to go sleep yet, I wanna hear the end of the story
"Are you tired darling?" He asked looking down at me
"No, no I'm not sleepy. Finish t-the story" I said getting very sleepy
"Munchkin, before you go to sleep daddy needs to tell you something" he said trying to sit me up
"Yes daddy" I asked crawling onto his lap
"Daddy has to go away for a little while-"
"Where are we going daddy?" I asked looking up at him
I wonder where we gonna go, maybe to Ireland where the real leprechauns are or that big country with the big house that's white or the place with all the animals
"You're going to live with mummy and I'm going to another country to help some people" he said kissing my forehead
"But you're not a doctor daddy" I asked confused
Daddy owns a pub, he doesn't know how to help people. He isn't a doctor or dentist
"Not that kind of help, how do I put this, I'm going to help people by fighting for our country"
"Fighting" I shot up and looked at him, Daddy never fights "I don't know you to go" I cried
"Shh, come on baby girl. I'm not going to be gone for long I promise. You get to go live with mummy with her boyfriend Tom and his son Louis. You're going to have lots and lots of fun. I will be back soon don't worry" he said wiping a tear from my eye
"How far away does mummy live?" I asked
"Only a few hours away. She lives down in Brighton where it's sunny and has lovely beaches. You're going to have so much fun" he smiled
"I don't want to leave London. I like London. I like the big wheel and clock. Daddy please don't go" I cried again
He looked down at the floor but I couldn't see what he was looking at "Aqua I have to, I'm going to help lots of people and I won't be gone for long" he smiled "trust me"
"Okay. But pinky promise" I said pointing out my pinky
"Pinky promise what?" He laughed
"Pinky promise that you'll come back very soon and that you won't get hurt. Pinky promise" I said pushing my pinky in front of his face
He smiled down at me and wrapped his pinky tightly around mine "I pinky promise darling"
"Good. Does this mean you're going to be a hero?" I cheered. My daddy is going to be a hero
"Yes I will darling" he smiled picking me up and putting me back in bed
I pulled up my blanket and daddy kissed my forehead then I felt something fall onto my face "daddy is the ceiling dropping water" I wiped my face
Daddy sniffed and wiped his eye "yes darling. You need to pinky promise me something though"
"Okay daddy. Anything" I smiled
"Promise me that when you turn eight next month you'll write me a letter and take a picture of yourself on your birthday and give it to mummy to send to me, and that you'll do the same every year on your birthday" he smiled leaning on the floor by my bed
"I promise daddy. I love you" he smiled as he kissed my forehead "I'll miss you"
He kissed my forehead again and tucked me in the blanket "I love you too baby girl and I'll miss you so so much"
I laid down onto my pillow and closed my eyes. I heard dad open the door..I forgot "Daddy" I shouted opening my eyes
He turned around and looked at me "yes sweetheart?"
"One last promise. Promise that you'll always send me letters telling me where you are and everything" I asked sitting up
He laughed and smiled at me "I promise darling. Now off to sleep, it's late"
"Okay daddy, I love you. My hero" I said as I fell to sleep
Just before I went into the world of dreams I heard daddy whisper "I'll always be with you no matter what happens Aqua. I love you with all my heart baby girl
