Lu settled onto a weathered wooden bench, its surface warm from the sun that had long since dipped below the horizon. The uptown district buzzed with life, an orchestra of sounds that enveloped him like a familiar song. He could hear the distant laughter of friends dining al fresco, the clinking of glasses from upscale restaurants, and the low hum of conversations mingling with the rhythmic tapping of high heels on the pavement. A light breeze rustled through the trees lining the street, carrying with it the delicious aromas of grilled seafood and gourmet pastries.

As he glanced around, the scene felt almost surreal. The storefronts were dazzling with neon lights and golden accents, showcasing everything from high-end fashion to artisanal chocolates. One shop's display featured a stunning array of handbags that sparkled under the warm glow of strategically placed lights, while another flaunted designer shoes that seemed to beg for attention. Lu chuckled to himself, imagining what it would be like to stroll through those doors without a care in the world, buying whatever caught his eye.

But it was the people that truly captivated him. Each passerby was a canvas of style and sophistication, adorned in tailored suits and flowing dresses that spoke of wealth and status. They moved with a confidence that felt foreign to Lu, whose own wardrobe consisted mainly of faded tees and well-worn jeans. Yet despite the disparity, he found a strange comfort in the ambiance. The vibrant energy of the district buzzed in his veins, a reminder that there was more to life than the confines of his dorm room.

He felt the sharp contrast of his own casual attire—a loose-fitting white tee and faded jeans paired with a black windbreaker—against the backdrop of elegance around him. Yet, instead of feeling out of place, he embraced the moment. He had come to learn that appearances were just that—appearances. There was something liberating about sitting among the affluent, smiling and nodding at those who caught his eye. A few smiled back, their expressions ranging from polite curiosity to genuine warmth, and each acknowledgment sent a ripple of connection through him.

Lu's mind wandered as he observed the luxury vehicles cruising down the street, their polished exteriors gleaming under the streetlights. Each car that passed seemed more opulent than the last. He marveled at the sleek lines of a Maserati, the glint of chrome on a Lexus, and the growl of a passing Charger. The nicest car he'd ever been in was his brother's 2013 Toyota Corolla, which now seemed almost laughably mundane compared to the sophisticated machines cruising past.

Just as he was lost in thoughts of hypothetical wealth—what he'd buy if he were rich, maybe a fast motorcycle or a snazzy sports car—his gaze landed on a sleek black Porsche that glided to a stop along the curb. The sight of it made his heart race; this was the first time he had ever seen such a marvel in person. Its deep red stripe added an extra layer of allure, making it stand out even more. He couldn't help but feel a flicker of excitement, appreciating the artistry and power encapsulated in such a vehicle.

"Woah," he muttered.

As Lu continued to admire the car, the driver's side door opened, and out stepped none other than Lilith. His breath caught in his throat as he took in her appearance. She wore a short crimson bodycon dress that hugged her figure in all the right places, effortlessly highlighting her curves. The black leather purse she held complemented her outfit perfectly, giving her an air of sophistication that made her seem almost otherworldly.

She spotted him immediately, a nervous smile breaking across her face, and Lu felt a rush of warmth flood through him. "Lu~!" she called out, as she hurried toward him.

As Lilith approached, Lu found himself momentarily speechless, his gaze instinctively wandering over her form. Her hair cascaded around her shoulders in soft waves, glistening under the streetlights like spun gold. The way her face lit up with that nervous smile highlighted her striking features—high cheekbones and full lips that seemed to beckon for closer inspection.
