Amber, Kaeya, and I sit in the restaurant from yesterday. It much busier, and it seems to be understaffed. The clatter of dishes and the murmur of conversations fill the air, and it's clear the place is understaffed. A frazzled waitress struggles by, balancing two large trays in each hand while precariously supporting a third on her head.
I lean against the table. "Any news about my business?" I inquire, remembering the conversation we had the day before.
Amber beams, her energy ever-present. "Yep! Sister Rosaria said you can use the space at no charge. Oh, and I stayed up last night making promotional signs for you. Just need to get them posted around town."
My eyebrows raise. "Wait, really? That's amazing!" I glance at Kaeya, who is calmly sipping his drink. "Sounds like things are moving faster than I expected."
Amber grins. "Of course! We want to make sure you're all set up to help Mondstadt. However, the room is unfurnished."
"Don't worry, we can go furniture shopping after our training," Kaeya chimes in with a wink. "You'll need the perfect setup to impress your clients, after all."
"Awesome!" I sit back in my chair, letting my mind wander as I start picturing my ideal office.
I can almost see it now—a cozy, mystical space with a tapestry on the wall featuring a magical symbol, maybe a pentacle or an all-seeing eye. The lighting would be soft, illuminated by Himalayan salt lamps to create a warm, calming atmosphere. Obviously, there would be a chaise lounge for psychoanalysis, too. And the shelves would be lined up with various tarot decks.
"How much do you think you could charge for your services?" Kaeya asks, pulling me out of my daydream.
"I don't know Mondstadt's economy." I say with a shrug.
Well, since therapy is a niche in Mondstadt, we'd probably need something on the high side but nothing too crazy so people can afford it," Amber suggests, casually sipping her water. "We want to make it accessible but also valuable enough that people see it as worth investing in."
Kaeya leans back, a playful smirk on his face. "Maybe three thousand mora for an hour-long session?"
Amber nearly chokes on her drink, her eyes widening in disbelief. "Three thousand mora? That's how much my breakfast costs! Are you seriously comparing therapy to pancakes and juice? It needs to be higher if people are going to take it seriously!"
I raise an eyebrow, trying to hide my amusement.
The genki girl crosses her arms, deep in thought. "At least five thousand, maybe more. Therapy is a big deal! You're basically giving people the tools to deal with their problems. That's worth way more than a breakfast special!"
Kaeya shakes his head."We gotta pay off that furniture somehow. "Hundred thousand?"
Amber scoffs at his suggestion. "Hundred thousand? Seriously, Kaeya? This isn't a royal palace we're furnishing. We need something reasonable."
Kaeya shrugs, completely unfazed. "Hey, just throwing ideas out there. But furniture isn't cheap, and neither should a proper therapy session, you know."
I sip my iced coffee as my mind wanders back to the easier-to-understand world of Earth's prices, where things are at least a bit more familiar. Then it starts to make sense as I try to compare to the US dollar.
Thirty dollars is enough for a typical meal at a restaurant, which explains why three thousand mora wouldn't work. Five thousand is approximately the amount of money that boots on clearance would cost at Macy's. But a hundred thousand....? That could work!
