"Getting ready for school."
"Ash, get ready for school!! You're going to be late picking up your friends." Mom said.
Since we moved here in the middle of the night, like at 4 in the morning. And when I woke up it was 7:30. School starts at 8:25 and I am still getting ready, I smirked in the mirror.
"Okay, Mama!" I say.
I walked out of the bathroom and down the hall. I stopped at another door, my room. I reached out my hand and pushed open the door. Jeez, my room is a mess, there are boxes everywhere.
You see I moved away. Again. My family moves a lot and I don't know why. But hey, it's my life. I put on clothes for the day and then walk out of my room and down the hall again.
I walked downstairs. I stepped off the last step. There's a smell coming from the kitchen.....is that....?
"PANCAKES!" I call out.
I run the rest of the way to the kitchen and slide to a stop. I walked over to the table, just as my mom set down a plate at my spot. Two pancakes, sausage, and scrambled eggs. Yum. I pull a chair out and sit down.
"Thanks, Mama." I said.
My mom leans down and presses her lips to my head, I can feel the slight pressure of her lips against my head. I smile and hum a tune. I run a hand through my hair and ruffle it up, it makes it so it doesn't look like I put too much or too little into doing my hair. Part of the bad boy look.
"Your welcome honey." Mom said.
I picked up my fork and started eating. The first bite was so good. I was almost done with breakfast when my dad came into the kitchen. He walks towards my mom who is at the stove finishing up gathering the ingredients for making their breakfast. He walks past me and tries to ruffle my hair in the process, I duck out of the way and glare at my dad. He just laughed and hugged my mom. I shook my head and went back to eating.
"Hi, honey. Hi Ash." Dad said.
My dad kisses my mom. I used my fork and thumb to get the last of my pancakes and eggs, then I lifted my fork to my mouth. I chew the combination of pancakes and eggs, it tastes sweet and tangy with the pepper and syrup. I swallowed my food and walked over to the sink.
"Hi dad, do you have work today?" I ask
I reach out a hand and turn on the facet. I grabbed the sponge and started cleaning my plate as the water ran down my plate. I scrub the food and syrup off my plate and it's an easy motion, up, down, up, down and up.
"Yes, but I'm not needed there until 9:30 so I'll just stay here with your mom until then." Dad said
I put the sponge near the knob of the faucet. The water washes off the soapy plate, I flip the plate over to rinse off the other side. And then put it on the drying rack.
"Okay sounds good." I said
I mumble a song under my breath. And nod my head to the beat of my foot against the floor, going thump, thump, thump rhythmically with the beat of the song.
"Yep." Dad said.
I finished cleaning up my dishes, turned around, and walked over to my parents. I kiss them both on the cheek and then run upstairs.
I brushed my teeth and came back down the stairs, and put on my shoes. I went to the front door, reached down, and grabbed my satchel. I reached out my hand and unlocked the front door, opened it, and then opened the screen door.
