right after season 2 (the night of the snowball)
el's POV:
It was just getting dark, the stars just beginning to sparkle across the dark blue plain that was the sky. El and Mike were sitting side by side, watching as the sun disappeared and the moon arrived. After all that dancing, they were both tired and wanted someplace to get away. So they both decided to leave a little before it was over, and climbed to the top of a large hill in Hawkins.
"Isn't it beautiful, El?" Mike asked, wrapping one arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer.
"Yes." She simply answered, feeling all warm inside from his embrace. Responding to his action, she moved her head to where it sat comfortably on his chest.
El couldn't have been more happy in, probably, her life. Except for the time Mike first found her in the woods, soaked in rainwater and all alone. That was her best moment ever. As she stared up at the stunning stars, each bright and shining. El had a wonderful time with Mike at the Snowball, it was everything she'd hoped it would be since last year, and more. But she was still glad that they left, it was a bit tight and uncomfortable for her, considering she'd never been in a crowd so big before. Plus, now she had the opportunity to be fully alone with Mike, in the first time for what felt like forever.
"Hey, El?" Mike whispered from beside El, turning to face her. She did the same, looking into his gorgeous-in her personal opinion-brown eyes. Suddenly, Mike placed his hands on either side of her face, pulling her closer.
"Yes, Mike?" El replied, smiling warmly at him.
"I've missed you so much." Mike said it as if she'd just came back to him from hiding and the Upside Down. Just then, he closed the space between them, kissing her passionately but gently, making sure she was comfortable. El, for that matter, was extremely comfortable being around Mike. Sometimes, it seemed like he was the only one she was fully comfortable with.
El kissed him back, feeling as if he was the only important thing in the world. Yes, she loved the party, Hopper, and even Joyce, but right now, none of them seemed to matter. Only Mike was currently in her heart. She felt her hands subconsciously move to the back of Mike's head as they kissed, her hands intertwining in his soft, black hair. She shivered as Mike wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer still.
They stayed like this for a few long moments, sharing a kiss they knew they both wished could've happened the day El returned to Mike. Finally, El was losing air, so she pulled back gently with a soft gasp. Touching her forehead with Mike's, she smiled, true love shining in her eyes. Mike's eyes looked the same.
El felt as if she couldn't control her feelings anymore. Her love for Mike was just too strong. Moving her hands from his hair to his face, she moved her head back, just a tiny bit, to get a good look at her Mikey.
"Mike?" El breathed, her voice no louder than a whisper.
"Yes?" Mike replied, with the same volume. He didn't move his hands off of her back, his arms still wrapped tightly but gently around El's waist.
"I like you..." She began, her cheeks flushing a warm shade of pink as she spoke. "a lot."
Mike replied with a sudden kiss, sending shivers down El's spine. His lips felt amazing on hers like this...a sensation she could not describe. El felt the grip of her hands on his face tighten, adrenaline coursing through her veins. Mike rubbed her back with his hands, arms still wrapped around her torso.

When the two pulled away, they were both panting for air. Despite that, El loved kissing Mike. Everything about it. His scent, his closeness, the feeling of his smooth lips. She never knew that she'd meet anyone like him. She didn't even know what love, or crushes, or kissing was until she met him. He taught her a lot, about her emotions, about people, about caring about someone so deeply you can't bear the thought of losing them. The last one was the most important.
El's legs were wrapped around Mike now, her arms around his neck. Her head rested soundly on his chest. Mike lie on his back, one arm around her once again. She felt comfortable enough to fall asleep, just like this. They lie together in silence, taking in each other's warmth on the cold night. It wasn't cold enough for snow yet, but the crisp air was enough to make El shiver from time to time. But Mike's embrace kept her content, and safe, it felt like, from any danger existing in the world.
"Aren't they so pretty?" El whispered, gazing up, breaking the silence of the night. But Mike didn't mind, of course.
"Yeah..." He observed, looking up into the sky as well. "But not as pretty as you."
This was enough to turn El's eyes from the beautiful stars to Mike's loving expression. Waves of familiarness washed over her, and she remembered a distant memory from their past.
They had both been in Mike's bathroom, and he was cleaning up her face from the dirt and debris that had been there from her running away. When he was finished, El remembered, he put the cloth down and El looked into the mirror, seeing her reflection.
"Still pretty?" She had mumbled, looking back to Mike. Now that wig had been off, she had felt a sense of insecurity.
"Pretty. Really pretty." Mike replied, leaning closer. El remembered, the look of love in his eyes, as they almost kissed. But that's when Dustin and Lucas had come in the room.
Mike's soft voice brought El back into reality. She was still happily in Mike's embrace.
"Hey, El. Do you see that?" She asked her, kissing her forehead and pointing with his free hand to a spot in the sky. El squinted, attempting to see better into the infinite oasis of sparkling dots. That's when she spotted it. There was a clump of six stars in the sky. But, out of all of them, there were two, closer together than the others, and shining more bright than any of the ones in the galaxy.
"They...look like..." El began, whispering to Mike in response.
"Us." Mike finished her sentence, and gave her a gentle kiss. They held it for a few seconds. Then, lost in love, staring back at the stars that seemed to predict life itself, all El could think about was how grateful she was for Mike. He had been her savior, after all. After everything they'd been through together, the sky shined a new hope for their future.
