He sat alone, the room was still, The ticking clock a distant thrill. His life had aged, the years had gone, But one regret he lingered on.He loved her first when they were four, A secret love, forever more. He'd watched her smile, had held her near, But never said what he held dear. She married, and so did he, Two lives entwined, yet never free. His heart was hers, though bound by time, A silent love, a lifelong crime. Now, near the end, his breath grew slow, The world outside began to glow. He felt it coming, soft and light, Like whispers calling through the night."I'm coming now," he softly said, As memories danced inside his head. His chest grew calm, his pain erased, He knew at last he'd see her face. The world dissolved, the weight was gone, He stood where time could not move on. A golden field, a sky so wide, And there she was, just by his side. Her smile was bright, her eyes aglow, The girl he loved so long ago. She reached for him, their hands entwined, No more to hide, no more confined."I waited long," she softly sighed, "I knew one day you'd be my guide." "I should have told you," he replied, "I loved you too, but feared, and lied.""I knew," she said, her voice so clear, "I loved you too, year after year." No words were needed, hearts aligned, The love they lost, no longer blind.Together now, they walked as one, Beneath a sky of endless sun. In that place where time can't bind, They found the love they'd left behind.
