Rattle, rattle, rattle...
"Y-Your Highness, methinks it not too late to turn back now..." a meek, raspy voice whined hesitantly from the head of an eerie carriage, illuminated by ghostly will o' wisp lanterns and burdened with a large oak coffin. A tall woman clad in naught but a cropped sweatshirt and shorts perched atop the coffin, a long tiger's tail swaying leisurely with the bumps in the road. Her orange hair was streaked with black and pulled into high pigtails beside her fluffy tiger ears, her stark white bangs curling to frame her strikingly beautiful face. "There be no telling if here be the same as Nobel Bell College or not, yes? Yes, yes, methinks it best to go back to safety, best to go back home," he whimpered, pointy ears pinned back as a pointy snout sniffed the air furiously. The small golden jackal clambered down from the empty driver's seat, the horses driving the carriage free from human guidance, and scampered over to his mistress's lap.
Gleaming white teeth poked out from behind candy-pink lips, the woman's cat-like brass eyes narrowing with a smile as she gently chucked the jackal under his chin. "We've talked about this, Tabaqui. I am not one to allow mere plebs to stop me from achieving a satisfactory education, and Night Raven College was the best option. Besides, it leaves a good taste in my mouth when those fucktards finally realize how broad my influence in the school truly was," she added with a sly grin, a dark glint in her eyes.
"B-but, Highness, Highness, it be an all-male school! It be nothing but filthy men with dirty, dirty eyes! Oh, my poor Highness, a single lamb in a den of wolves. Ohh, the horror, the dread!" Tabaqui wailed, his little eyes watery with tears as he buried his face into her stomach.
"Taba, enough with the goddamned 'Highness' business; I abdicated, remember? Let that worthless wolf keep that rotten throne, for I've no need for the moldy scraps some bygone ancestor left me. Would it not be fun to carve out a kingdom of my own in this new land? The pride of the King of the Jungle is not one to be tempered by this small of a setback," the woman purred, picking the jackal up by the scruff of his neck as she crossed her legs. She looked up at the small furball dangling limply from her fingers, his watery hazel eyes gazing into hers.
"Taba do miss the King's Jungle, Milady..." he sniffled, his ears drooping sadly.
"That is no longer our place, for it has been invaded by those dickless humans and their filthy clawless paws in the name of justice," she spat, gnawing her back teeth together as she dropped him back onto her lap. "We must not show weakness, Taba. This is a foreign land, with more of those filthy humans loitering about. Quit your sniveling if you do not wish to be eaten alive."
"Yes, Milady, always right is Milady, yes," Tabaqui nodded, curling into a tight ball on top of her lap. "But before we arrive... Taba wishes for pat-pats, mayhaps...?" he softly squeaked, and the woman huffed before gently running her fingers through his soft fur, unconsciously crooning under her breath in a beastly tongue only they, beasts of the jungle, could understand.

"Goodness me, you are the second person to open the gate by yourself, although the first to not even wait for the carriage to arrive. Do youngsters these days truly not appreciate the merit of patience?" a masked man greeted the woman as she lept down from the coffin, lightly landing on her feet with a cat's grace.
"And miss this gorgeous scenery? Surely you jest, Headmaster Crowley," she purred, flipping one of her pigtails over her shoulder as her tail wrapped lightly around her waist.
"Oh, how my heart leaps for joy at hearing such praise for this school! Unfortunately, it wouldn't excuse you for any future misdemeanors, I will have to let you know," Crowley warned her with a stern finger, and she nodded with a toothy grin.
