Charlie's POV:
I scanned the park until I spotted Nick, lounging under a tree with a picnic blanket and a small basket beside him. As soon as Nick saw me approaching, his face broke into that familiar, heart-stopping smile. I could feel myself relax instantly, the tension I hadn't realized I was carrying melting away.

"Charlie!" Nick stood up, and before I could fully process it, Nick had pulled me into a hug, lifting me off my feet. I laughed, a sound that was part relief and part pure joy, as Nick set me back down.

"No Nellie?" I asked confused, nick is always with Nellie especially now because he doesn't see her as much.

"It's so good to see you," Nick said, still holding onto me as if he might disappear.

I smiled, his voice quiet. "I missed you."

We settled onto the blanket, the sounds of the park around us — kids laughing, the distant chirp of birds. I took in Nick's face, noticing little changes: his hair was a bit longer, and he looked somehow older, more confident. It made my chest tighten with pride and longing all at once. I wanted to kiss him so bad I missed him so much.

"So, how's uni?" I asked, genuinely curious. We texted all the time, of course, but hearing about Nick's life in person felt different.

Nicks POV:

I leaned back on my hands, "It's... strange. Good, but strange. I like the classes, and I've met a few nice people, but..." I looked at Charlie, his gaze softening. "It's hard not being able to see you every day."

Charlie looked down, picking at the edge of the picnic blanket. "I know what you mean," he admitted. "I mean, I'm so happy you're loving it, but... I guess I miss just hanging out at school with you. Knowing you were just down the hall or on the field, you know?"

I reached out, my fingers brushing against Charlie's, before intertwining them. "I know. But this is only the beginning, Charlie. It's just one year, and then we'll be back to figuring everything out together."

Charlie smiled, his heart feeling light. "Yeah... one year."

We sat in silence for a while, the weight of our words and all the promise we held filling the space between us. For now, here in the park, we had each other. And for now, that was enough.
