Jenny Han paced in her tiny Boston apartment, her heart beating faster than usual as she stared at the email. Her fingers drummed nervously on the desk beside her laptop, her vision blurring momentarily. Los Angeles. She was being sent to Los Angeles for six months, not for her research on neurological diseases, but to counsel a celebrity. No, scratch that—Harry Styles. She pressed her hands against her face, muffling a frustrated groan as the reality of her assignment sank in.

“Why me?” Jenny mumbled under her breath, pacing once again. She glanced at the kitchen clock. It was past midnight, and she was still wide awake. “I’m not a celebrity therapist, I’m a scientist,” she murmured, as if reasoning with the universe could change the course of events.

Her phone buzzed. The screen lit up with a message from her advisor, Dr. Matthews, someone she deeply respected.

Dr. Matthews (text):

Jenny, you’re the best person for this task. Trust me. You’re brilliant, and this is going to be good for you. This experience will change you.

Jenny stared at the message, her stomach twisting with anxiety and intrigue. Change me? She tapped her phone lightly against her chin, feeling the tug of curiosity. It wasn’t the first time Dr. Matthews had said something cryptic like that. But how could counseling a famous singer change her life? She wasn't interested in the glamorous world of Hollywood. In fact, she’d always prided herself on being someone who stayed away from the flashy distractions of fame. She was a scientist, a seeker of truth, a lover of solitude.

But deep inside, beneath the layers of rationality and ambition, there was a small flicker. A tiny voice that whispered, What if this is what you've been waiting for? This could be the kind of challenge that forced her to confront parts of herself she’d been avoiding for years.
With a sigh, she collapsed into her chair, fingers tangled in her messy bun as she leaned back and stared at the ceiling. “Harry Styles…” she whispered to the silence of her room. She wasn't one to get starstruck, but she knew his face, his voice—heck, the whole world knew him. His songs played on every radio station, and his face appeared in every magazine.
But who was he, really? Why did he need therapy?

Jenny bit her lip, scrolling through articles about him on her phone. There were endless stories—romances, scandals, tours. But none of it answered the question burning in her mind: what was he really like? What was he struggling with? Fame, identity, or something deeper?

The clock ticked, and the reality of her new assignment began to sink in. She’d be leaving behind her research for six months, her mother, her little sister, her cozy apartment where she spent hours pouring over her studies. LA would be a new world entirely—sunny, glamorous, full of people who lived their lives in the public eye.

As she sat there, her thoughts spiraling, Jenny’s phone buzzed again. Another message from Dr. Matthews.

Dr. Matthews (text):
Also, I know you’ve been looking for something—something beyond just books and studies. This could be your chance to find it. You’ve got this.

Jenny exhaled slowly, her heart skipping a beat. Looking for something? She stared at the words. Dr. Matthews had always seemed to know her better than she knew herself, which was unsettling yet oddly comforting.

Maybe there was more to this assignment than she was willing to admit. Maybe it wasn’t just about helping Harry Styles. Maybe this was about finding something within herself too.
The thought lingered as she glanced back at her laptop, the cursor blinking on her unfinished thesis. She’d been so focused on her academic goals, on chasing the perfect career, that she hadn’t stopped to think about what she really wanted. And now, life was throwing her in a completely different direction.

Jenny stood up, her mind racing, yet clearer than it had been moments ago. The collision of her world with Harry’s felt inevitable now. She didn’t know where it would lead, but there was something about this opportunity that felt… right.

For the first time in a long time, she felt the stirrings of excitement. Not just about the challenge ahead, but about the possibility of discovering something she hadn’t even known she was looking for.
She packed her bags, her heart heavy with anticipation and fear. This was going to be more than just a job.
