"I was burning when you came blaming me
for the smell of ashes!"

Y/n's POV

The eerie silence filled the car as I sat in the passenger seat, glancing over at Jungkook. His hands gripped the steering wheel with a tightness that was almost unsettling, his jaw clenched, and his gaze was locked on the road ahead.

Not a word had passed between us since we’d left. Jungkook had practically dragged me out of the party, telling Yoongi to stay back with the kids and wrap up the evening quietly so no one would notice our sudden departure.

I sighed, my thoughts a whirlwind. Why now, Taehyung? My mind spun with a flurry of questions, each one tightening the knot of dread in my chest. Why did you come back? Everything was finally falling into place. I had found peace—a family with Jungkook, a life where Sen and I were safe. You’ll destroy it all again…

The cold night breeze brushed my face as I gazed out the window, pushing away the turmoil, but the thought still lingered. This time, I won’t let you destroy me. I won’t let you take away my family… my Sen.

We finally pulled up to the house. Jungkook parked, got out, and went inside without a backward glance. I watched him disappear, taking a shaky breath before following.

The tension radiating from him was palpable, and it weighed heavily on me, too. Part of me wanted to reach out, but I knew he needed time just as much as I did.

I took a step toward the staircase, deciding to give him space. But just as I turned, a loud crash shattered the silence—a mirror breaking, echoing from Jungkook’s room.

My heart raced, and I hurried down the hall, stopping at his door. Pushing it open, I saw him standing in the middle of the room, breathing hard, glass shards scattered around his feet. His hand was bleeding, and his face was twisted with a mixture of pain, frustration, and… something else I couldn’t quite place.

“Jungkook…” I whispered, taking a tentative step forward.

The silence between us was thick, suffocating, as I took a hesitant step toward him. My eyes were fixed on his hand, blood dripping from his knuckles, staining the broken shards of glass at his feet.

"Don't! Go away!" Jungkook's voice was hoarse, laced with fury, but it was the pain beneath his anger that made me freeze. He stood rigid, his back still facing me, his frame tense like he was barely holding himself together.
