the friend group walked down the sidewalk, the house and reporters already in view. they paused next to the news truck to to take it all in.
the mother and father of clara brooks, the poor girl who died last week, stood out on their front lawn, the mothers face in her hands, holding in tears. a reporter stood in front of the two of them, asking questions by the minute. a microphone with the label of the company on it, stretched out in their faces.
sienna was filled with sympathy. she stood and watched as the husband, pushed the microphone out of his wife's face, before hugging her and running a hand through her hair.
matthew walked up behind her, putting a hand on her shoulder, a silent 'you okay?".
she nodded, walking up to the couple. she had know clara, not well but they were childhood friends when they were younger.
"hi ms and mr. brooks," she said, offering her a sad smile.
"hi darling," ms. brooks replied, pushing a hair from her red face and she stretched her arms out.
sienna walked closer, accepting her hug.
she pulled away, "im so sorry about clara,"
"thank you. she will be missed deeply," mr. brooks put his hands on his wife's shoulders.
"do you mind, if i asked what happened?" she paused for a moment, wincing as she felt awful for asking so soon.
"no need to be scared about asking dear. i'm not fully sure though, she was going to a party last weekend and never came home. apparently she never got to the party."
sienna's breath felt taken from her. she would have seen if clara had gotten to that party, since most likely she was going to same one as her. she was also sitting on the front porch for almost the entire thing, in front of the door.
"that's awful,"
the wife nodded slowly.
"sorry dear, we're going to go in the house. we can't stand the reporters anymore. nice to see you"
sienna nodded, "of course. nice to see you too,"
the couple turned and walked towards their home, the door closing with a click after they walked in.
sienna sighed walking down to the side walk, where the rest of her friends stood. they all started silently walking down the path again.
milo walked next to sienna, kissing her on the cheek, then pulled her in for a side hug. "what are you thinking about."
james listened in from behind, jaw tightened. theo and august next to him talking about what to eat for dinner.
she paused, "she was most likely going to same party we were all at. she didn't make it there, so she must've-" she trailed off not wanting to say the word died. "either way, part of me wants to find out what happened to her. for her poor parents mostly."
milo nodded, "i get that. even though that's crazy dangerous, ill help you if you want,"
sienna smiled, linking an arm through his, "thank you."
