As Deepika rode along the quiet, tree-lined road, her mind was filled with the countless memories of Alan, flickering like scenes from a movie.

She passed by familiar landmarks, her hands steady on the bicycle’s handlebars, though her heart still felt heavy.

Suddenly, just ahead, she spotted a figure in a white coat.

It was the doctor who had taken care of Alan in his darkest hours.

Deepika's eyes brightened, and without hesitation, she called out.

Deepika: "Doctor!"

The doctor stopped in her tracks, looking around to locate the familiar voice.

When she finally saw Deepika, a warm smile spread across her face, and she waved in response.

Deepika quickly braked and hopped off her bike, jogging over to meet her.

Doctor: "Mary! How lovely to see you."

Deepika couldn't hold back her gratitude, her voice trembling slightly with emotion.

Deepika: "Doctor… thank you so much. Truly, I’m so thankful for everything you’ve done."

The doctor tilted her head, her expression a mixture of curiosity and kindness.

Doctor: "Thankful? Whatever for, Mary?"

Deepika smiles warmly.

"For Alan. When you'd ‘shot’ him… I thought you really did, and I… I was so scared."

The doctor chuckled softly, a twinkle of mischief in her eye.

Doctor: "Oh, come now. I wouldn’t really shoot him."

She paused, lowering her voice as if sharing a secret.

"Besides, I don’t even have a license for a firearm."

The two shared a brief laugh, easing the tension that lingered from their last encounter.

Deepika’s smile faded as her gaze grew distant, her thoughts once again on the trials they had all been through.

Deepika: "Thank you, though, doctor. For everything."

The doctor reached out, resting a comforting hand on Deepika’s shoulder.

Doctor: "It’s really okay, Mary. I only wanted to make him unconscious, just enough to stop whatever was overtaking him back then."

Deepika nods gently.

"I know… and I understand why you did it now. Alan’s doing so much better, thanks to you."

The doctor’s expression softened with relief and pride.

Doctor: "That’s truly wonderful to hear. And how are you doing with everything, Mary- oh- Deepika?"

Deepika hesitated, glancing away as she searched for the right words.

Deepika: "Well… this whole experience has been a lesson for me."

She took a deep breath, her voice steadying.

"I’ve decided to stay by his side just as he is now. I don’t need to know who he really was before, not if it brings him pain."

The doctor’s eyes gleamed with understanding and approval.

Doctor: "That’s a wise decision, Mary. Some parts of the past are better left behind, especially when they weigh so heavily on someone."

Deepika nodded, appreciating the wisdom in the doctor’s words.

She knew there was still a lot she didn’t understand about Alan, parts of his story that were shrouded in mystery.

But she had come to realize that sometimes, love meant accepting someone fully, without needing all the answers.

Deepika: "Thank you for everything you’ve done, doctor. For Alan… and for me."

The doctor looked down at her kindly, almost motherly.

Doctor: "Deepika, I’ve told you before—you’re like a daughter to me. There’s no need to thank me. It’s what family does."

Unable to hold back her emotions, Deepika reached out and wrapped her arms around the doctor, hugging her tightly.

The doctor returned the hug, her embrace warm and comforting, filled with a sense of reassurance that words could never convey.

After a moment, they pulled back, and the doctor adjusted her coat, a touch of playful formality in her demeanor.

Doctor: "So… how has he been settling into his new school and his new family?"

Deepika’s eyes brightened with pride.

Deepika: "Better than I ever imagined. He’s found a sense of stability, something he’s never really had before. He’s… he’s happy, doctor. And for the first time, I think he feels like he belongs."

The doctor smiled, pleased to hear the news.

She had known Alan’s journey would be a difficult one, especially given everything he had endured, but seeing him begin to heal and grow gave her hope.

Doctor: "That’s wonderful to hear, Deepika. Truly, it’s all we could have hoped for him. And you know, you’ve played a huge part in that. He needed someone like you in his life."

Deepika looked down, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.

Deepika: "I just want to be there for him, however I can. I don’t want him to feel alone… not ever again."

The doctor’s heart swelled with pride, knowing that Alan was in such good hands.

Docto*: "You’re a remarkable young woman, Deepika. Alan is lucky to have you."

Deepika smiled, the weight of her gratitude too immense for words. She took a small step back, her hand resting on the handle of her bike.

Deepika: "Thank you again, doctor. For everything you’ve done for him—and for me."

The doctor watched her with a warm smile as Deepika mounted her bicycle, her figure soon blending into the distance as she continued down the road.

The doctor stood there for a moment, her heart filled with a quiet pride and contentment, knowing she had helped in some small way to guide these two young souls toward healing and happiness.

As Deepika pedaled away, her heart felt lighter, and her thoughts drifted to Alan, now surrounded by new friends, a new family, and a future full of hope.
