It was 3 a.m. when Bobby's phone buzzed violently on the nightstand, shattering the peaceful silence of the house. He groaned, rolling over to check the screen, half-expecting it to be a spam caller or some ridiculous marketing pitch. But the name flashing across the screen made his heart sink: Tony 'The Shark' Russo.

"Ugh, what now?" Bobby muttered to himself, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He reluctantly answered the call, trying to keep his tone casual despite the rising anxiety in his chest. "Tony, it's 3 a.m. What the hell do you want?"

"Bobby! You're gonna want to hear this!" Tony's voice crackled with excitement, as if he were calling from a high-stakes poker game instead of a late-night emergency.

"What's going on?" Bobby asked, fighting off fatigue. "If this is about another job, you've lost your mind. Don't you remember what happened last time?"

"Forget last time! We've got a golden opportunity here—a big score! It's a shipment coming in at the old warehouse on 7th Street, and it's worth over a million. Your cut? A cool $150K!"

Bobby sat up, now fully awake. "Are you serious? You think I'm just going to jump back into that life because of a paycheck? Especially after the last disaster? I was on the news, Tony!"

"I know, I know! But this is different! We've got the intel, and the job is clean—no police, no chaos. Just in and out. You're the best guy for this, Bobby," Tony urged, his voice dripping with enthusiasm.

Bobby ran a hand through his hair, feeling the weight of the decision pressing down on him. "And what happens if it goes sideways? You think I want to end up back in cuffs? I've got a family now, Tony."

"Come on, man! You're not just doing it for the money. You're doing it for the thrill! This is what we do!" Tony replied, but Bobby could hear the desperation in his tone.

"Thrill? Is that what you call it? Last time was a freaking circus! I'm not about to dive back into that madness, especially with everything I've got going on." Bobby's voice was steady, but inside, he was torn.

"Just meet us at the warehouse. If it's too much, you can walk away. But trust me, you'll regret it if you don't at least check it out," Tony insisted.

Bobby sighed, knowing he was already leaning toward the edge of that familiar abyss. "Fine. I'll be there. But if this goes south, I'm holding you personally responsible. And I mean it."

As he hung up, he felt a wave of dread wash over him. He glanced over at Nicole, sleeping peacefully beside him, blissfully unaware of the turmoil brewing in his mind. He didn't want to drag her into his chaotic past, but the lure of that kind of money was hard to ignore.

He slipped out of bed, pulling on a jacket and heading to the living room to collect his thoughts. Just as he was pouring himself a stiff drink, his phone buzzed again. This time, it was a spam caller.

"Perfect timing," he muttered, rolling his eyes as he answered, "Hello?"

"Congratulations! You've been selected for a free vacation!" the overly cheerful voice chirped.

"Look, I'm not interested, okay? I'm about to go on a dangerous mission, and I don't have time for your crap," Bobby snapped, irritation bubbling to the surface.

"Sir, this is an amazing opportunity! You could win a luxury getaway!" the caller insisted, unfazed.

"Do I sound like I'm in the mood for a vacation? I just got off the phone with a guy who wants me to break into a warehouse!" Bobby said, his voice rising.

"Sir, it's a free vacation! Don't you want to relax?" the caller pressed, their tone annoyingly upbeat.

"Relax? I've got a life full of chaos! I'm not sitting on the beach sipping piña coladas! I'm trying to keep my head above water here!"

Just then, Nicole appeared in the doorway, rubbing her eyes. "Bobby, what are you shouting about?"

Bobby threw his hands up, exasperated. "Just a spam caller! But it's fine, I'm fine—"

"Uh, Bobby, there's something I need to tell you," Nicole said, her voice shaky. "It's kind of serious."

"What is it?" he asked, his irritation fading as he sensed her nervousness.

"I'm pregnant," she blurted out, the words hanging in the air like an unexpected thunderclap.

Bobby stood there, dumbfounded, the world around him fading into a blur. "Pregnant?" he repeated, his mind racing. "Like... really?"

Nicole nodded, her expression a mix of excitement and fear. "I took a test this morning. I wanted to wait until after the wedding, but I was feeling so weird, and..."

Bobby's heart raced, a whirlwind of emotions crashing over him. "Wow. I mean... wow." He couldn't find the words, his mind struggling to grasp the reality of what she was saying. "Are you sure?"

"Yes! I'm sure!" she replied, her voice tinged with a nervous laugh. "I'm still processing it myself, but I wanted you to know."

Bobby felt a rush of conflicting emotions—joy, fear, and an overwhelming sense of responsibility. "This is... big. I mean, we just got married, and now we're having a baby?"

"I know it's a lot, but I'm excited! I hope you are too," Nicole said, stepping closer, her eyes searching his.

"Of course I am! It's just... unexpected," he admitted, running a hand through his hair, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. "But it also makes this mission even more complicated."

"Bobby, you don't have to do this mission. You can walk away," Nicole urged gently. "We need to think about our family now."

"I know. I just—" Bobby paused, the earlier excitement of the mission fading. "I need to figure things out. I can't keep living on the edge like this."

Nicole nodded, her eyes softening. "We'll figure it out together. Just promise me you'll think about what's best for us."

As he stood there, the chaos of the night transformed. It wasn't just about money or old ties; it was about building a future. He realized he needed to make choices that mattered—not just for himself, but for the family he was about to have.

"Okay," he finally said, taking a deep breath. "I'll think about it. I want to be there for you and our baby. That's the most important thing."

Nicole smiled, and in that moment, Bobby felt a sense of clarity wash over him. No more chaos. It was time to embrace the new chapter of his life—one filled with love, laughter, and responsibility.
