Orm’s POV
Sitting across from Lingling at the lunch table, I could feel my face heating up every time our eyes met. My mom chatted away as if everything was normal, but I couldn’t ignore the way Lingling would sneak shy glances at me, her cheeks still tinted pink from before. Every accidental brush of our hands felt like electricity, sending my heart racing.
Mom, however, wasn’t oblivious to the tension in the air. She’d glance between us now and then, a knowing smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. As we started eating, she leaned over a bit, her voice warm. “Lingling, you know, you’re welcome here anytime. Orm always looks so happy around you.”
Lingling blushed, ducking her head. “Thank you, Auntie. I feel really comfortable here.”
“Oh, that’s wonderful to hear! It’s like you’re already part of the family.” My mom winked at me, which only made me want to melt into the floor. She was teasing me—teasing us—and she seemed to be enjoying every second.
Throughout lunch, Lingling and I exchanged glances, each look filled with a mix of embarrassment, excitement, and... something more. But there was this warmth in her eyes that made me feel like maybe, just maybe, she felt the same way.

Lingling’s POV
I felt like I was on a roller coaster, each smile from Orm’s mom and every teasing glance making me more flustered. I knew I should be calm, but it was impossible when I could still feel the kiss lingering on my lips. Orm was so close, yet this small distance felt like miles.
As lunch went on, I found myself stealing glances at her, each one making me more aware of how much I wanted to talk about what happened. To be honest with her. But, right now, with her mom around, I could only try to focus on the food and pretend I wasn’t practically glowing with nerves.

Lingling’s POVMy heart was racing the entire way up to Orm’s room. I kept replaying that kiss over and over in my mind, feeling both shy and strangely excited. When we reached her room, she closed the door gently behind us, and I felt the atmosphere shift, becoming quieter and more intense.
“Lingling,” Orm began softly, turning to face me, her expression filled with a gentleness that made my heart flutter. She looked at me as if she was about to say something important, something that had been waiting for the right moment. “I... I don’t really know how to say this, but… I like you. More than just as a friend.”
My breath caught, and for a second, I couldn’t find my words. My mind was a jumble of emotions—excitement, confusion, and a hint of fear. This was all new to me, and I wasn’t sure how to respond, but I knew I wanted to be honest.
“Orm, I... I don’t think I’ve ever been in love before,” I whispered, my voice wavering. “I’ve never been in a relationship, and I’m not sure what it even means to love someone, or... be loved. But I know that with you, I feel something special. It’s like... like being with you feels right.”
Orm’s eyes softened, and she reached out, gently taking my hand. Her touch was warm and comforting, like an anchor pulling me out of my confusion. “Lingling, we don’t have to rush anything. I promise. We can go at your pace, whatever feels right for you.”
Her words eased the tension in my chest, and I felt a wave of relief. Knowing that she was willing to be patient with me, to help me understand what these feelings meant, made everything feel… safer.
Orm squeezed my hand, her thumb brushing soothingly across my knuckles. “I want to show you what it feels like to be loved,” she said softly, her voice full of warmth and sincerity. “We can take our time, figure it out together. You don’t have to know everything right now.”
The way she looked at me, with such care and understanding, made my heart swell. I’d always admired her strength, her patience, and the way she’d been there for me without question. And now, knowing that she wanted this too, made everything feel more real.

Orm’s POV
As we sat together, holding hands in the quiet of my room, I felt this overwhelming sense of peace settle over us. Lingling’s honesty, her vulnerability, only made me admire her more. It took so much courage to admit that she wasn’t sure, that she was stepping into something unknown. And I wanted nothing more than to be there with her, every step of the way.
“Lingling,” I murmured, reaching out to gently tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re amazing, you know that? I don’t care if this is all new for you. It just means we get to experience it together.”
She smiled, her cheeks turning pink as she looked down, a little shy but also… happy. I felt a warmth blooming in my chest, and I couldn’t help but pull her into a gentle hug. She melted into my arms, and I could feel her relax against me, like she’d found a place where she belonged.
The world outside faded away, and for that moment, all that mattered was us—two people figuring out something new and beautiful, one step at a time.

Lingling’s POV
In Orm’s arms, I felt safe, like I could finally let go of everything else weighing on me. My worries, my doubts, even the pain from my family—none of it mattered here. Orm’s gentle words and her touch filled me with a warmth I’d never known.
For the first time, I allowed myself to believe that maybe, just maybe, this could be real. That someone like Orm could care about me in a way that was both comforting and exciting, all at once.
As we pulled back, her face was so close to mine, her eyes soft and full of affection. She reached out, brushing her thumb over my cheek, and my heart skipped a beat. It felt like everything was just beginning, and I couldn’t wait to see where this new feeling would lead us.
