I'm Annabelle Price. I'm 14 years old and in advanced placement in most subjects. Not that you care. No one ever seems to care. After school I always go to the park behind The Fence. Everyone calls the fence bordering our school, The Fence because it's the largest fence out of the 103 fences in my small town. There is a little park behind it with a bench. One bench. And that's my bench. I sat down and thought about crossing my legs since I was wearing a skirt, which I rarely do, but I decided it didn't matter. No one comes around here. I settled onto the stone bench and felt the cold surface through my skirt. I pulled out my book and started reading it. When I read, I usually focus only on the book. But today felt different. I tried to read the book wholeheartedly like usual, but it just seemed impossible. My started to chattering and I felt anxious. I shook my head, trying to clear the thoughts. It was so unlike me, usually organized and confident in this park. Something moved beside me. I jerked my head to see what had happened. There was nothing. The park was quiet and lonely. Like always.
