Vedant
It had been a typical workday, busy as usual, and I was fully engrossed in paperwork when a knock came at my office door.
"Come in," I called, barely glancing up. But then, a familiar sight caught my attention—a neatly wrapped box placed on my desk.
Curious, I looked up to see Ojasvi, my wife, standing there, her smile lighting up the entire room. I couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at my lips.
"Ojasvi, why are you standing? Sit down," I said, gesturing to the chair in front of me.
She settled herself down and slid the box towards me, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
“For you,” she said softly.
I opened the box to find an assortment of pastries inside, the sweet aroma filling the air.
I looked at her, confused but intrigued. "Did something happen to give me such a sweet treat?"
"Of course!" she replied, practically glowing with happiness.
I raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to explain.
"I got promoted, Vedant! I’m now the Head of Department!" she said, her smile so genuine that it warmed my heart.
"Congratulations, Mrs. Ojasvi," I said, grinning as I shared in her excitement.
Seeing her share this success with me made me feel like I was part of her happiness, and it meant more than words could say.
"Thank you, thank you," she said, beaming. "So, this is a small treat from me to you," she added, nodding towards the pastries.
"Just a little treat, huh?" I teased.
She chuckled, “Aapko party chahiye kya?"
What I really wanted was to spend more time with her, but instead, I just replied, "Well, will you give me a party then?"
"If you insist, of course," she replied with a smile.
I decided to push my luck. "Then how about a party just between the two of us?" I suggested, wondering if she’d agree.
She’s always been a bit shy, and with both of our schedules so packed, finding alone time was challenging.
She nodded enthusiastically and even gave me a thumbs-up. "Okay, I’ll handle the arrangements for tonight. Remember, 8 PM. Be ready," she said, standing up to leave.
"Wait, where are you off to so quickly? Let me give you a proper tour of the company," I suggested.
I wanted everyone here to know that she wasn’t just a visitor—she was my wife.
"Isn’t your schedule packed?" she asked, looking a little hesitant.
For her? Never. "Not right now. Let’s go," I said, taking her hand gently and leading her through the different departments.
As we walked around, she took everything in, her gaze full of admiration and curiosity.
When we finally returned to the elevator, she looked at me with a bright smile. "Wow, Vedant, the company is so neat, clean, and beautiful. Full marks from me."
"So, you were conducting an inspection instead of a simple visit?" I teased.
She laughed lightly, “Was I?” and gave me a playful look.
I pinched her nose softly, unable to resist. “Have lunch with me,” I suggested, hoping she’d agree to stay a bit longer.
But she hesitated. "Actually, I’m meeting my friend, so I’ll eat with her," she explained apologetically.
I nodded, understanding, though I would’ve loved to extend our time together a bit more.
After a quick goodbye, she headed off, leaving me with a lingering sense of contentment. Time with Ojasvi felt so good, so right.
Now, I just had to wait for the clock to strike 8 PM, and until then, I returned to my work, the thought of our evening keeping me motivated.
