[Scene 1: Breakfast Table – Early Morning]

The rain continues to pour outside, trapping Taehyung and Minji in the cozy cottage with the elderly couple. The scent of fresh bread and tea fills the air as they sit around the breakfast table, joined by the old man and woman who haven’t stopped smiling since last night.

Taehyung tries to hide his discomfort, though a part of him finds the whole situation strangely comforting. Minji gives him a shy smile, clearly just as awkward.

Old Woman: (pouring tea for Minji)
“So, how long have you two been married?”

Minji nearly chokes on her tea, and Taehyung stiffens. They share a quick, silent look, both trying to think of a believable answer.

Minji: (forcing a smile)
“Oh… not very long. Just a few months.”

Old Man: (smiling, nodding knowingly)
“Ah, newlyweds! Still in the honeymoon phase, aren’t you?”

The couple shares a laugh, and Taehyung tries to go along with it, reaching over to hold Minji’s hand. The gesture catches them both off guard, and Minji’s cheeks flush pink.

[Scene 2: The Living Room – Midday]

Later, they sit with the old couple by the fire, trying to pass the time as the rain continues. The elderly woman glances fondly at her husband, her eyes lighting up with a youthful glow as she recalls their early days.

Old Woman:
“We were young, too, just like you two. We met at a dance hall in the city. I’ll never forget it—he swept me off my feet, didn’t you, dear?”

Old Man: (smiling proudly)
“I did. And I knew from that moment on, she was the one.”

Taehyung and Minji exchange glances, caught up in the warmth of the old couple’s story. There’s something so sincere in their love, something that neither Taehyung nor Minji have truly known.

Minji: (softly)
“It must be wonderful… to share a life with someone like that.”

Taehyung: (nodding in agreement)
“Yeah, to have that kind of connection with someone.”

Their gazes linger, an unspoken understanding passing between them. The elderly couple watches them with approving smiles, as if seeing themselves in the young pair.

[Scene 3: By the Fireplace – Evening]

The rain hasn’t let up, and the old couple insists that Taehyung and Minji stay another night. They sit by the fireplace, wrapped in blankets to warm up.

Old Woman:
“You know, real love takes work. It’s about patience, trust… and being there for each other, even when things get tough.”

Taehyung and Minji listen, their hands brushing accidentally under the blanket. A small thrill runs through them, the accidental touch making them both aware of the intimacy they’re pretending to share.

Old Man:
“Life isn’t always easy. But if you’ve got the right person by your side, it’s a little less lonely.”

The old woman nods, and for a moment, her gaze softens as she looks at Taehyung and Minji, sensing more than they’re willing to admit.

Old Woman: (patting Minji’s hand)
“You two… take care of each other. It’s rare to find what you have.”

Minji smiles politely, though inside she feels a pang of guilt at deceiving them. She glances at Taehyung, noticing the way the firelight dances in his eyes, a vulnerability there she hadn’t seen before.

[Scene 4: The Guest Room – Late Night]

Back in the guest room, Taehyung and Minji prepare to sleep, but the atmosphere between them is different now. They sit in silence, each reflecting on the old couple’s words, the warmth of their love.

Finally, Taehyung turns to Minji, his voice soft.

Taehyung:
“It’s strange… pretending to be something we’re not. But… it doesn’t feel so wrong, does it?”

Minji looks at him, her heart racing at the confession. She doesn’t know how to respond, doesn’t know what she’s feeling, only that the way he’s looking at her makes her feel like the only person in the world.

Minji: (whispering)
“No… it doesn’t.”

In the stillness, Taehyung reaches out, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. The small, tender gesture sends a shiver through her, making her feel vulnerable yet comforted.

Taehyung:
“Yoon Minji… it suits you.”

She blushes, surprised by the warmth in his voice, the genuine kindness in his eyes. They sit in silence, their breaths mingling, and before they realize it, the tension pulls them closer.

Their faces are mere inches apart, and neither one of them pulls away. They’re lost in each other, in the warmth of the firelight, in the quiet, intimate space they’ve created.

[Scene 5: Morning Departure – The Next Day]

The next morning, the rain finally stops. Taehyung and Minji prepare to leave, the elderly couple seeing them off with warm smiles and fond wishes.

Old Woman: (hugging Minji)
“Take care of each other, you hear? Love isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.”

Minji nods, smiling through the bittersweet feeling in her chest. Taehyung offers a grateful nod to the couple, then leads Minji outside.

As they walk toward his car, the weight of last night’s closeness hangs in the air between them.

Taehyung: (quietly)
“Thank you… for playing along. And… for last night.”

Minji glances at him, her expression softening.

Minji:
“Thank you, Taehyung. For being there.”

They share one last, lingering look before he starts the car, driving away from the cottage and the warmth of the life they’d briefly pretended to share.

As they part ways, both are left with a strange ache—a sense of loss for something that never truly existed but felt so real.
