bodies are found half-buried in the sand of coral shore, mutilated and disfigured. the first is anne-marie quinton, a teenager in her senior year at crystal cove high. after anne-marie was martin, then tommy, then jackie. the list goes on. there were ten murders before the killer, who came to be known as 'the butcher' was caught. all the victims were teenagers, all the same age, and all dearly missed.

the first victim of crystal cove's 2002 massacre is found by a student from crystal cove high. memories of the butcher resurface for everyone who is old enough to remember the 1982 murders.
the first body is found with stab wounds, practically disemboweled — the butcher's main trademark.
except, he's still in prison, rotting away in crystal cove penitentiary, with no known family. the town is left stumped, the police force even worse off.
an empty question hangs in the air: who is killing teenagers?
