ORUNSHEWA

"Ever since I was little, they all believed I was delusional.

Because i saw the world in a different perspective.
U
Even my birth was complicated.

They said I came out first with my legs...

As the yorubas called it "Ige"

My mother said I was special.

My father thought I was rare.

But they were both wrong, I wasn't special or rare.

I was the beginning to their worst nightmare."

"Shewa, breakfast is ready already" a thick feminine voice shouted as she jumped up on the bed.

Her thick black virgin hair bouncing up as she found her glasses on the bed.

She sniffed continuously as she packed the books that were now torn on the bed.

The door flung opened and her mom appeared smiling at her daughter.

" Shewa get ready, breakfast is downstairs" with that, she winked and closed the door.

Orunshewa wasn't listening, she was still looking for her journal.

Leaping round the room, she crawled under the bed and found it lying open.

Her masterpiece was safe.

She winced at the sound of her high pitched alarm that suddenly went on.

Silence

She thought as she smashed the alarm on the white painted wall.

She sat on her long stool across the room and read her journal.

It was about her and her life.

How she was destined.

The door opened again.

It was her mom.

But this time, it was an angry mom.

" Shewa, I want you to be downstairs right this minute" she roared.

" I'll be there in a minute" Orunshewa mumbled as she stood a fixed staring into the eyes of her mother.

" Good" she hadn't noticed her gaze as she closed the door.

Orunshewa took off her clothes and got into the pink tiled bathroom.

She had a routine every morning.
