It was a chilly afternoon, and the city streets were buzzing with energy as people bustled about. Miku, Teto, Rin, and Len slipped into their favorite coffee shop, a cozy, hidden gem tucked away from the main road. The space was bathed in soft, golden light, with the scent of roasted coffee beans and pastries filling the air. They found their favorite corner booth, with a big window overlooking the busy street outside.
After they ordered, they settled in with steaming mugs and treats, talking about life and their recent festival performance.
"I still can't believe the crowd that night!" Rin said, stirring her hot chocolate with a grin. "It was insane!". "Yeah, Miku and Teto really got the crowd pumped up," Len added, looking at Teto with a smile. "You two were unstoppable."
Teto blushed, looking down at her coffee. "Well... Miku did most of the heavy lifting," she murmured. "Not true!" Miku leaned over and nudged her. "We were a team, Teto. You lit up the stage as much as I did."
Teto gave a small smile, feeling a bit reassured. She took a sip of her coffee, savoring the warmth.
"Speaking of news..." Len paused, a twinkle in his eye. "Did you guys hear? Gumi's getting a brand-new voicebank!"
The table fell silent for a second, then Rin gasped. "No way! Are you serious? That's huge!"
Len nodded, his eyes bright with excitement. "Yep! Rumor has it, it's gonna be amazing. They're saying it'll be more versatile and expressive than anything before."
"That's... wow," Miku said, forcing a smile. "Good for her. She must be thrilled."
Yeah! Imagine all the new things she'll be able to sing!" Rin added, beaming. "I mean, Gumi's voice is already incredible."
Teto chimed in, her voice soft. "I'm really happy for her. It's just... sometimes it feels like there's always a new update or improvement for everyone else." She glanced at Miku, sensing they might be feeling the same thing.
Rin, sensing the tension, piped up, "But hey, you guys are doing great too! The crowd loved you at the festival, and nothing's gonna change that!"
Len chuckled. "Yeah, who needs a new voicebank when you've got pure talent, right?"
Miku smiled gratefully, but a flicker of concern lingered in her eyes. "You're right, Len. It's just... the world's always changing so fast, you know? Sometimes it's hard to keep up."
Teto nodded, feeling a knot form in her stomach. "Exactly. What if... what if we end up left behind?"
The table grew quiet as everyone looked at Miku and Teto, sensing the weight of their words. Len finally broke the silence, giving a gentle grin. "Come on, guys. No matter what happens, you'll always have us here. And your fans are crazy about you."
Miku reached over and squeezed Teto's hand. "We've got each other too. And I'm not letting you slip into anyone's shadow. Deal?"
Teto's face softened as she squeezed Miku's hand back. "Deal."
The tension lifted a bit, but as they laughed and continued their conversation, a quiet unease lingered in the air. For Miku and Teto, the news of Gumi's voicebank was exciting, but it also brought a reminder of their own uncertainties. They shared a quick look, a silent promise to face whatever came next—together.
As they finished their drinks and gathered their things to leave, the faint glow of streetlights filtering through the window made the moment feel almost surreal. They left the coffee shop with smiles, yet both Miku and Teto carried a small, unspoken worry about what the future might bring...
