Augusta seemed to have reached new, yet unpredictable heights ever since Wilhelm's wedded her. Court life in Prussia wasn't liberal. In fact, she got bored after adjusting with it for a few days. At first, Wilhelm was neutral, harmonious but stern with her, and Augusta couldn't stop shaking when they slept on the same bed for the first time during their wedding night, though no physical touch was made. Actually because, she longed for such physical touch. Thinking about it made her cry. She implicitly loved him so much, it actually made her cry. He was to never realize this. It occurred to Augusta, if Wilhelm would ever have a thought about her and quit thinking about Elisa.
It's been a year since marriage, struggles in court continued. Wilhelm not having a heir yet kept everyone wishing for a divorce between him and Augusta, whilst his implicit devotion in his marriage, as it was his father's will.
It was another crisp, autumn morning. Breakfast was complete. The ladies went off chattering as the men were receiving duties. Princess Louise of the Netherlands, Wilhelm's youngest sister, was coming to their place.
Wilhelm was determined to not have a fuss with Augusta this time. Strangely enough, all his siblings were older than Augusta. Louise would be bringing her daughter, who they all referred to as ' little Louise '( later Queen Louise of Sweden, wife of Charles XV of Sweden ).
Augusta was adored by all her in laws, but she was unsure about Princess Louise of the Netherlands, as she had a mentality like Wilhelm. At the moment, Augusta was simply waiting in the living room with crown princess Elisabeth Ludovika. That's when Wilhelm dragged her forcefully towards a pilar.
Augusta: What happened?!
Wilhelm: Just a warning.
Augusta: What warning?
Wilhelm: If the topic is on politics, please, it's not just a request, but an order. Please don't think about interfering.
Augusta: *gets cross with disbelief* Fine! Now......*thinks about taking a chance for intimacy as they were somewhere private, and looks at Wilhelm, who's actually been thinking the same thing, but she hears the doorbell* let me go!
Frederick William III: Louise! After ages* is shoved back by his second wife, Auguste von Harrach, as Louise grimaces.*
Auguste: Yeah...yeah...welcome Louise!
Louise: Thank you! Now, let's hop in Louise!
Little Louise: Alright!
Wilhelm: Now, please don't embarrass me!
Augusta: Alright!
However, clumsy Augusta didn't abide by Wilhelm's order for long.
Frederick William III and Auguste went back to their room and the others, except for Marie and Charles, who were tending their children, went to the guestroom, and got to the discussion of politics too soon enough. Their topic on conservatism made Augusta impatient, especially when Wilhelm, who was sitting right next to her, added up in the conversation.
Augusta: I'm afraid that the Prussian Court doesn't seem suitable enough for conservatism, and conservatism kind of sounds pretty.......lame? That's because -
Everyone paused as Wilhelm gave a stern glare at Augusta, and she realized that she practically embarrassed herself in front of most of her in laws.
Albert ( Wilhelm's youngest brother ): *snaps at Augusta, which makes Wilhelm embarrassed and disappointed ) Well, if Elisa were here, she wouldn't have uttered a sound against conservatism! Oh, dear brother of mine, how do you say that she has a spectacular personality?!
Princess Louise of the Netherlands: I completely agree, my dear brother! Augusta doesn't deserve a complement of anything from Wilhelm! How fickle and immature of a personality!
In fact, no one really knew that he once complemented Augusta , which shocked his siblings who were present at the scene, making Wilhelm even more embarrassed, in such an extent that he left the guestroom, infuriated. Augusta, who was also extremely shamed, followed suit.
Elisabeth Ludovika wanted to reassure them until her husband, Frederick William explained that it would be better for them to solve this between themselves.
Augusta found Wilhelm in his study, and it was clear that there was an abnormal rage inside him. Yet, she decided to stay and locked the door.
Augusta: I'm sorry, I think I should've not done that...........-
Wilhelm: Shut up! You should've taken note of it when I warned you! Why do you have to be like this! You know, sometimes I wish that I never married you, or were burdened to have offsprings with you! And yes, I still and will always love Elisa!
Augusta flooded into tears out of humiliation when she felt Princess Louise of the Netherlands and Prince Albert of Prussia actually complementing Wilhelm for reprimanding Augusta, in fact it was because Wilhelm was being quite audible down there.
She stormed out of the room swinging the door open, thinking that Wilhelm would face a similar humiliation even though he didn't face anything such. Augusta closed the door of her room and wept. A pigeon arrived at the open window with a letter from Augusta's paternal first cousin, Helene of Mecklenberg Schwieren, daughter of her paternal aunt, Caroline Louise of Saxe Weimar. It was definitely about their paternal grandfather, who's looked for a new, and young mistress at the moment. While Augusta read the very long letter, Wilhelm and his brothers ( except Charles, again ) were out for a drink. They made no eye contact with girls, except for Albert.
Frederick William and Wilhelm went back to the palace as Albert was entertained by a few ladies.
There was something awaiting for both Wilhelm and Augusta.
