To Ava Conley district five was her everything, she basically lived at Charlie Conways house and could never be spotted without one of her teammates. She was good, fastest in Minnesota on both skates and foot. The one-day Ava isn't walking home with...

Ava was woken up by the abrupt and loud knocking on her apartment door. She felt the sunlight shining in from her open curtains as she slowly got out of her bed and trudged to the door. The second she pulled it open she was met with the face of her best friend and upstairs neighbor Charlie Conway.
"What do you want Spazway?" She groaned knowing it would be something stupid.
"All I need is a dollar... Please?" he added the last part as an afterthought. She thought it over for a while knowing it would annoy the crap out of him. Then she just walked away. Messing with Charlie was one of her favorite things to do.
"Come on Ava just give me a- oh." She turned around with a dollar in her hand "Don't get caught." she said as she smiled.
"Thanks Flash!" Charlie yelled as he ran out the door.
Since Ava was awake now, she decided to stay awake. She walked over to her kitchen to grab some fruit for breakfast and noticed a note from her dad. She didn't even have to read it, she already knew he had left to go away on business, but she decided to look it over anyways at least she could know where he was. "Hey kid I'm leaving for Maryland today, I might be gone for a while so if you want to you can stay at the Conway's. See you when I see you." It was the same lame kind of note he left about once a month. Ava had gotten used to them by now, she practically had her own room at the Conway's now. But it still hurt, he didn't even bother to sya why he was going or even that he loved her.
After a few hours of lounging around her room, calling connie, and watching some re-runs Ava had to get ready for hockey practice on the pond downtown. So, she got up from the couch, turned off the TV and headed for her room. Ava was a pretty girl and lots of the guys at school liked her which was weird since she really wasn't the popular type. She spent her days hanging around with a group of guys and one girl who were a couple years younger than her, and she played on the worst hockey team in Minnesota. She was the best on the team and probably the fastest skater in Minnesota but still. She didn't care about who she hung out with though, she loved hanging out with Charlie, Averman, Jesse and the rest of her team. She also didn't care about her looks. So, as she was getting ready, she threw on an old North Stars hoodie and some black sweatpants, she stopped at her mirror to brush through her pin straight brown hair and grabbed her hockey bag. She slipped on her roller blades and headed out the door.
As she skated around Stillwater, Minnesota on her way to the old pond where her team District Five had their practices, if you could even call them that they mainly just messed around while Ava practiced, As Ave continued down the sidewalk she felt the cool winter air on her face. As she neared the pond, she heard screaming she automatically recognized the voices it was Charlie. Averman, Dave, Karp, and Peter. They were being chased by a red sports car, they all ran by her saying hello one by one
