Damon

Blood. Everywhere.

But it's not mine. It's...

No, no...

She was shot, blood spilling from her stomach profusely.

She took the bullet for me.

"What the hell are you doing?" I growled, my tone harsh yet pained as I berated her for doing such a stupid thing as being my shield, holding her tight in my arms as I knelt on the ground with her upper body lying on my lap.

"D- Daniel..." She called out to me, her hands clasping mine, holding tightly.

The sound of my name through her weak and shaky voice had me clenching my jaw, rage and fear spreading through my body as I held myself back from breaking.

But it was nothing compared to what I was about to hear after.

"I... Love you..."

"And I'm sorry for everything..."

...

"Damon..."

The image of the past vanishes as I hear my name, and I'm brought back to the present, focusing on who is next to me.

Rosalie with her head on my shoulder, grounding me in the moment.

Her voice called me back before I could get further lost in the loop of my torment.

Rosalie...

Rosalie

He doesn't say anything to me.

And that's okay. Maybe he's tired, he's injured after all.

I'm content with just being close to him like this, feeling the peaceful rhythm of his breathing.

Before I can say anything more, the familiar gates to his mansion loom before my eyes.

As the car gets closer, I then notice there are several men in black clothes pacing back and forth behind the gates, while others stand still presumably on guard.

A few men come out to inspect us. After recognizing Damon, they immediately open the gates to let us through.

We pass through the entrance, the big fountain and beautiful garden to pull over at the bottom of the steps that lead to the mansion's doors.

Damon gets out first to walk around the car to open my door, like he always does, but of course I won't let him do that. Not now after what happened to him. I refuse and open it myself before he could get a hand on the handle.

I get out on my side and the first thing I see is a bunch of scary looking men staring at me.

Feeling anxious, I tear my eyes away from one of them to pace over to Damon, standing closely by his side.

Suddenly, I feel something grab my hand. Shuddering, I look down to see Damon's large hand holding mine. The contact has me frozen a bit in confusion, staring a moment longer at the gesture before looking up to meet his eyes.

He doesn't say anything, his eyes hard to read, yet tinged with something warm, making butterflies flutter in my stomach.

"Follow me." He murmurs, then tears his eyes off mine to look forward, starting to walk, gently pulling me with him.
