"They usually do that to those with impressive education qualifications. I have only heard of a few exceptions, I never got to talk to any of them before so..."

"Please excuse my inquisitiveness, but what degrees did you get?" She chuckles, leaning lightly forward with so much interest that I feel like vanishing.

"I..." I glance at each of them nervously.
