Inhaling a deep breath, Sadie made her way up the short path to knock on her sister's front door.

It was three days until Sadie was due to take part in the Initiation, and she had decided she was going to tell Emilie the truth. The realisation that she might not get another chance had weighed heavily on her. She had been battling with her guilt over what she did for months. She decided that Emilie needed to know the truth. Whatever the consequences of her decision, she couldn't die knowing she was lying to her twin every time she saw her.

She lifted her hand and knocked twice on the blue painted door. Emilie opened the door a crack and peered out, before registering it was Sadie, and opening it wide.

'I wasn't expecting you. Is everything okay?' She asked, pulling Sadie into a tight hug.

'I'm fine. I just needed to talk to you.'

Emilie was wearing a pair of black gym leggings and a long t-shirt covered in a brown stain Sadie didn't want to know about. She was vigorously shaking a bottle in her hand by the time Sadie was settled in the living room.

'Where's Chris?' Sadie knew he was at work, but wanted to be sure before she said what she needed to.

'Working. Henri is having a nap. I'll bring him down as soon as he's up. If you have time that is.' Emilie gestured towards Sadie's uniform. She had called in at the end of her shift after asking Ben to drop her off. He was the only person she had told about what she was planning.

'I'll have time.'

'Good. So, what's up?' Emilie set the bottle on the counter to cool, and joined Sadie on the sofa.

'I don't even know where to start.' Sadie admitted. She nervously felt for her necklace and remembered she had left it in Ben's car, knowing she would need to be able to show Emilie the truth before she would accept it. The thought made her feel dizzy.

'Sadie, you're scaring me. What's going on?' Emilie placed a hand gently onto Sadie's thigh.

Sadie started at the beginning, telling Emilie about the night she first met Zach, and was attacked. She filled her in on the information she hadn't shared when it happened about her using her magic without knowing what it was. Emilie was silent, wearing an unreadable expression. Sadie continued until she had finished telling Emilie about her first meeting with Date at the police station. She decided to stop there.

'Em, say something.'

'Should I be laughing? Is this some big joke, because I really don't have time Sadie.' She sounded annoyed more than anything.

'It's all true Em. I can show you.'

'What do you mean show me.' Sadie had already stood before Emilie finished.

She moved her hands in a figure of eight and created a swirling flow of air between her hands before gently pushing it towards Emilie's mustard floor-length curtains. The curtains blew up from the bottom and flapped on the air current like a pair of flags flying in the wind. She allowed them to settle before turning to look at Emilie who stood open-mouthed next to her.

'How did you do that.'

'Magic.' Sadie said on a shrug.

'No, I mean did you open the back door before you knocked, because you've really outdone yourself.'

Sadie didn't respond.

'Are you actually being serious?' Emilie looked taken aback. She seemed to be fighting between believing her sister and having her committed for insanity.
