The vibrant lights of the club pulsed rhythmically to the beat of the heavy bass, a kaleidoscope of colors illuminating the crowded space. Patrons moved to the infectious rhythm, bodies swaying and dancing under the strobe lights that cut through the thick air, filled with anticipation and excitement. Ling leaned against the polished bar, a cool drink in hand, her heart still racing from her earlier match against Mint. The exhilarating rush of victory lingered, but so did the sting of Mint's unexpected kiss.

Ling surveyed the packed room, her thoughts racing as she tried to shake off the unsettling encounter. The earlier confrontation still replayed in her mind like a looping video—Mint's arrogant smile, the way she had leaned in, the shock of the kiss. It had been an attempt to rattle her, and it had worked—at least momentarily. But tonight was supposed to be about celebration and camaraderie, not lingering anxieties.

Suddenly, she spotted Orm weaving her way through the throng of club-goers, her dark hair dancing to the rhythm of the music. The sight of Orm brought a smile to Ling's lips, the tension in her chest easing slightly. As Orm reached her, she could feel the warmth of her presence enveloping her, the air charged with an unspoken connection.

"Hey!" Orm called out, her bright smile cutting through the chaos of the club. "I thought I'd find you here! You were amazing out there today."

"Thanks!" Ling replied, her smile widening, grateful for Orm's support. "It felt good to win, but Mint really knows how to get under my skin. I can't believe she had the nerve to kiss me like that." Ling's voice lowered slightly, a mix of frustration and disbelief lacing her words.

Orm's expression shifted, a flicker of anger igniting in her eyes. "I can't believe she did that either. It's like she thinks she can just waltz in and disrespect you. Who does she think she is?"

Ling appreciated Orm's fierce loyalty. "You should have seen the look on her face when I beat her. She didn't see it coming," Ling added, her spirits lifting as she recounted the victory.

"I just wish I had been there to see it," Orm teased, her tone lightening. "Honestly, though, I can't wait to kick Mint's ass in the arena. Just wait until I get my hands on her."

Ling's heart swelled at Orm's words, a playful spark igniting between them. "You? I'd pay to see that match. Just promise me you won't let her kiss you, too," Ling joked, nudging Orm playfully.

As they shared a laugh, the atmosphere around them shifted. The heavy beat of the music suddenly felt more ominous, and Ling's playful mood began to dim when Mint entered the club, her presence unmistakable. The tension in the air thickened as Mint strode through the crowd, her confident demeanor demanding attention. Ling felt a rush of adrenaline at the sight of her, her earlier resolve returning with a vengeance.

"Look who it is," Mint drawled, her voice smooth as she approached them. "The champion of the ring. Shouldn't you be thanking me for that kiss? It gave you a taste of true competition." The smirk on Mint's face only infuriated Ling further, igniting the fire within her.

Ling's fists clenched at her sides, but before she could respond, Orm stepped forward, placing herself protectively in front of Ling. "Back off, Mint. Ling doesn't need your games or your cheap tactics," Orm stated firmly, her gaze fierce and unwavering.

Mint's eyes glinted with amusement as she glanced between them. "Oh, I didn't realize you were her bodyguard now, Orm. But if you're so keen to protect her, maybe you should teach her how to fight better. Or maybe she needs a little more motivation."

Ling could feel her heart racing, a mix of frustration and determination boiling within her. "I don't need motivation from you, Mint," Ling retorted, her voice steady and unwavering. "I'll prove myself in the ring. Just wait."

Mint chuckled, a low, mocking sound that cut through the noise of the club. "I look forward to it, sweetheart. But remember, I always play to win." With a final lingering gaze, she sauntered away, leaving Ling and Orm standing in a charged silence.

"Ugh, she's insufferable," Ling groaned, shaking her head in frustration. "Every time I think I can move past her, she pulls me back in with her nonsense. But I can't let her get under my skin. I need to focus on my training and show her I'm not afraid."

Orm turned to Ling, her expression serious yet supportive. "You will. Just remember, you're not alone in this. We're a team. Whatever Mint throws at you, I'll be right there to support you." Her words were a balm to Ling's frayed nerves, grounding her in the moment.

Ling's heart warmed at Orm's promise, feeling a surge of determination. "Thanks, Orm. I don't know what I'd do without you. Your belief in me means everything."

As the music pulsed around them, the club transformed into a world of its own—lights flashing, people dancing, and laughter mingling with the throbbing rhythm. Ling felt the adrenaline coursing through her veins, mingling with the lingering tension in the air. She knew the battle with Mint was far from over, but with Orm by her side, she felt ready to face whatever challenges awaited her in the arena.

"Let's make a toast," Orm suggested, raising her drink with a mischievous glint in her eye. "To kicking Mint's ass and proving her wrong!"

Ling laughed, the sound brightening her mood as she clinked her glass against Orm's. "To that! And to our friendship—because I couldn't do this without you."

They shared a moment of connection, eyes locked, the camaraderie and warmth enveloping them like a shield against the chaos of the club. The world around them faded into the background, and for a moment, it was just the two of them, united in their determination.

As the night wore on, they danced, laughter filling the air, the worries of the outside world momentarily forgotten. But in the back of Ling's mind, the anticipation of the next match lingered, fueling her resolve to prove herself not just to Mint, but to everyone who doubted her.

As the music faded into the early hours of the morning, Ling knew one thing for certain: she would rise to the challenge, and with Orm at her side, she felt unstoppable.
