Rosalyn paced nervously in front of the mirror, her heart racing. Her roommates-Lily, Marlene, and Alice-were a whirlwind of energy, rifling through their collection of dresses.
"No, that one's too flashy," Lily said, holding up a glittery number.
"What about this?" Marlene suggested, draping a soft, flowing gown over Rosalyn's shoulders.
"Not for a first date," Alice chimed in, shaking her head. "She needs something classic."
Finally, they settled on a stunning red dress that hugged Rosalyn's figure just right. Marlene paired it with a chic black coat, perfect for the chilly evening. "You look amazing!" they all squealed, causing Rosalyn to blush.
Meanwhile, across the Gryffindor common room in the boys' dormitory, James was pacing back and forth, his heart pounding. "What if she doesn't like me?" he fretted, running a hand through his messy hair.
"Prongs, relax," Sirius said, leaning back in his chair. "I've known Lyn since we were kids. She's going to love whatever you do."
Peter nodded in agreement. "Just be yourself, mate. You've got this."
Remus chimed in with a reassuring smile, "And remember, she's just as nervous as you are."
Taking a deep breath, James finally gathered the courage to head downstairs. As he reached the common room, his breath caught in his throat. Rosalyn appeared, stepping down the stairs like a vision. The red dress shimmered softly, and her hair framed her face perfectly.
"You look breathtaking, Rose," he said, taking her hand and pressing a gentle kiss to her knuckles.
Her cheeks flushed a deeper shade of crimson. "You don't look too bad yourself, James," she replied, her voice slightly shaky. It was an understatement; he looked incredibly handsome, dressed sharply with his hair neatly styled.
Their friends in the common room gushed, clapping and cheering as the two of them made their way out, hand in hand, into the night.
As they arrived in Hogsmeade, James led her to a secluded spot hidden behind a cluster of trees. Rosalyn's eyes widened in amazement. The area was adorned with flickering candles and delicate fairy lights strung above, illuminating the scene like something out of a storybook.
"Wow," she breathed, taking in the beauty around her. Just then, she turned to find James holding an enormous bouquet of vibrant roses. "Oh my-!" she gasped, her hands flying to her mouth.
"For you," he said, his smile wide as he presented the flowers.
"Thank you!" she exclaimed, taking the bouquet and leaning in to plant a quick kiss on his cheek.
They settled at a small table, where an array of delicious food awaited them. Rosalyn couldn't help but notice the elegant spread. "James, this must've cost a fortune," she remarked, glancing up at him.
He shrugged, brushing off her concern. "I just wanted you to have a good time. That's all that matters to me."
As they shared stories and laughter, Rosalyn felt a warmth blossom in her chest. The night unfolded beautifully, filled with genuine connection and joy.
For both of them, this first date felt like the beginning of something magical.
