Emis phone call had left her feeling crappier. She didn't know how this dinner was going to go- the last time her and katsuki had even looked at each other had been a week ago, and it caused them to fight.
Katsuki had had a similar phone call from his mother - a little more arguementititive, though.
Practically being blackmailed into it- and then forced to drive emi there. He retaliated with a 'she can get on a damn bus, she isn't a kid'
But that was snarkily shot down. Katsuki wasn't really in the mood to fight, so he reluctantly agreed.
.
Friday had come around annoyingly fast. Emi, obviously, reluctant to get into the car just knowing the awkwardness would be deadly.
The two were now arguing about it, katsuki parked outside her apartment block with the window rolled down, gaining attention from pedestrians because of his incessant yelling.
"I can take the bus!"
Katsuki glared, his fists clenching around the wheel. "The old hag will fuckin' kill me if i let you take the bus. Get in before i make you"
Emi let out a small huff. She knew he wasn't making it up. Mitsuki was known for your temperment- bit like someone she knew.
After a long pause, she scowled slightly. "She won't know. I'll get there the same time and-"
Katsuki let out a long dramatic sigh and got up, grumbling about how fucking stupid she was being as he forcefully put her in the passenger seat.
She huffed, not really fighting it, and slouched in the seat as katsuki got back in.
He was still clearly in a bad mood- both were. The lack of sleep didn't really help him either, having not been sleeping well over the last few days. He let out a gruff sigh, taking a glance at you briefly as he drove. "Dont make a big deal out of it," he mumbled out.
Emis eyes rolled, not that katsuki could see her face. She kept her gaze out her window. "Im not making a big deal out of anything jerk," she mumbled back.
His eyes narrowed on the road ahead, his grip on the steering wheel tightening slightly. He didn't understand why they both couldn't just act notmal around each other. Then again, he knew the reason painfully well.. and he knew it was his fault.
His guilt brimmed in his stomach, making him feel sick. If he wasn't such a coward, the two would be fine.. or not. Who knows.
The car ride to their home town had been long and boring, the tension so clear and thick. Katsuki barely pulled into the driveway of his' house before she got out and walked straight into the house.
Putting on a quick front, she went over, hugging katsukis mother. "Auntie~ i missed you," her voice sweet.
Mitsuki cooed, her arms wrapping around the shorter girl and gently patting the back of her head before losening the grip and looking at her with warm, happy eyes.
She was ecstatic to see Emi, which was evident, especially after all this time without seeing both of them together. She had started to miss all the bickering that would take place when they were over.
Completely unaware of the tension, she pulled away from the hug and went over to katsuki, giving him a quick squeeze. "Emi, my sweet daughter in law. How have you been?"
The nickname made emi tense up as she moved her hand, rubbing the back of her neck. "I've been fine, auntie. Busy, " she spoke.
'Daughter in law' had been something mitsuki had always called emi. It wasn't really in a romantic sense. More as in her daughter from another mother. Either way, she wasn't in the mood to hear it right now, and by the looks of katsukis glare down at his mother, he wasn't either.
