"Do you think this method will work out?"

"If this is not working out, we will find another solution. If the other still doesn't, we will find another until we succeed."

"But-"

Cale turned around to look at you, making you shut your mouth immediately. Cale let out a sigh before he dropped his hand on your shoulder.

"[Name]."

You clenched your fists, looking down at the ground. The guilt was seeping through your veins when you saw that he and everyone were doing everything to ensure your curse was broken and that this life would be your last.

Looking at that, you felt the need to stop them.

Of course, you have the selfish wish to stay alive with them in this life. Of course, you want your curse to be broken.

Nevertheless, you can't bear to see them crumble if all you have done until now has crumbled, like how you will wither away. It will hurt you when you open your eyes in the next life.

It will haunt you and become your new curse.

"[Name]."

It will make you unable to move forward, remembering your moments here and comparing them later. Wishing that you are not curse, to be a normal human instead.

To have a normal life with those you love and those who love you.

You have been trying to break the curse before, but you couldn't find the way. Maybe you are not trying hard enough.

"[Name]!"

Your shoulders were shaken violently. You snapped out of your depressing thoughts to see the frowning face of Cale.

"...Yes?"

Cale let out a sigh.

After seeing you doze off like this in the middle of talking, he knew that you were overthinking again. The habit of yours to overthink something negative.

"Listen to me."

He held both of your shoulders and looked into your eyes. Your eyes were dull; he always noticed it since the first time you guys met. However, he also noticed the way your eyes shine more and more every time you spend time with others.

He thought you were healing from whatever you'd been through before. He felt glad to see your eyes full of life align with how you express your energetic self.

He also noticed the way your eyes turned lifeless when you lost yourself in thought, like your mind was preoccupied by something dispiriting.

"I would not let you die. No matter what."

He didn't know how to convince you. Your stubbornness is like when you always harm yourself.

"No matter what, you will continue to stay with us."

Cale saw the change in your eyes a little. He needed you to be more optimistic in this matter. He needed you to have the will to move forward; if not, it'd hurt the people around you.

He let go of your shoulder; instead, he cupped one of your cheeks. His warm hand was making you close your eyes involuntarily.

Will you continue to feel this warmth and more in this life?
