SWINGING my legs over Billie's lap, I relaxed back into the chair I was sitting in with a beer in my hand. I huffed, rubbing my temples as I felt a burning headache appear in my head. I watched the party goers conversate, dance, make out, and drink a ton of alcohol. This was one of the rare parties that Billie would take me to.

And since I was only 20, she said that the only alcohol I could drink was wine or beer and no raging party has wine so I, of course, opened up a beer. It was bitter - the flavor of it drowning in the back of my throat. It lingered and the smell invaded my senses.

I didn't quite like beer.

"If we find Quen and Alvin, we can leave, deal?" Billie shouted over the music, placing a protective hand on my shoulder. I nodded in response at my older sister, standing up while she remained seated.

I pushed past the sweaty bodies of people, kicking empty solo cups out of my walking path. I made my way upstairs, pushing the nearest door open and immediately closed it when I saw three people in there getting their freak on.

I jiggled the handle for the second one only to have no luck since it was locked. Smart thinking, though. I moved on to the third which seemed to be the bathroom. I pushed it open and saw Alvin making out with some random blonde girl. She looked like a hot mess to be honest. Her makeup was completely ruined and not in the sexy kind of way, it was more of like she had been crying for hours on end. It stained her cheeks. Her dress was wrinkled and the smell of cigarettes echoed through the bathroom.

"Vin." I called for the boy who groaned against the lady's neck. She looked at me with a glare, most likely mad that I interrupted. Though, I couldn't give two shits about it. "Bil said we're gonna go."

"Oh, well, I think I'll stay. Just Uber back home. See ya, little Eilish." Alvin playfully shoved my head as I grumbled, trudging my way out the bathroom.

"It's O'Connell, but yeah, catch you later." I shut the door behind me before fixing my hair, tucking my hands in the pocket of Billie's hoodie that I stole. Billie stood at the end of the staircase, waiting for me. She was completely sober since she drove us here.

"I found Quen in the kitchen, said she'll stay. What about Alvin?"

"He said the same." I shrugged, sniffling. Billie wrapped her arm around my shoulders, guiding me through the bustling mess that blocked the entrance and exit of the party. We shoved our way through before finally being met with the fresh air of LA.

Billie clicked her car keys, watching our Mercedes light up from the end of the street. We began walking, the chilly breeze brushing past us. "You have fun, sis?" Billie tossed a piece of minty gum in her mouth, offering me a piece.

"I guess so." I took it, tucking the empty wrapper in my back pocket. Billie looked at me. Lately, I've been extremely down in the dumps for a lot of reasons. I had the stress and pressure after recently coming out as bisexual, I was dealing with a bad breakup, and my mental health wasn't at its finest. So my sister, with the gentle soul that she has, tried to cheer me up.
