Emily Quartermaine threw open the heavy door to Wyndemere, ignoring Alfred's greeting and she stalked into the living room. Emily never thought that her Nikolas could ever be capable of hurting her, not the man that was so tender with her. Walking in on Nikolas in bed with Courtney Matthews weeks ago had hurt her immensely, a part of her had died. In that moment she had wanted to break down and ask him why he had walked out on their marriage but, she couldn't give Nikolas that satisfaction. Nikolas sat on the couch in the living room, from the looks of it he hadn't shaved or cut his hair in weeks.
"Emily, I thought you weren't coming back." Nikolas Rose from the couch but, stopped walking towards her when Emily quickly held up a hand.
"I'm not leaving my things here, Nikolas. I want a divorce." Emily glared at her husband, he was so far away from the man she had fallen in love with.
"Can't we talk this over? Emily, I don't want to lose you." Nikolas begged her, making a grab for her hands.
"Don't you dare touch me, I don't want anything to do with you! I would have never went outside our marriage, unlike you! I know we were having problems but, we could have gotten through it! We could have talked or went to counseling! Anything! Anything else would have been better then what you did! You slept with another woman in our bed, with sheets that I bought! Those were my sheets! God knows only how many times. You shut the door on our life the moment you slept with that bitch! Our marriage is over, Nik. Our friendship is over. You ruined it." Emily slapped Nikolas across his face, tears brimming in her eyes.
"Emily, I made a mistake. I'm sorry but, can't we at least figure this out?" Nikolas knew that he had messed up.
"A mistake is forgetting an anniversary, not sleeping with another woman. I'm here to get the rest of my things, that's it. I really loved you Nikolas, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. I know that I was struggling with Conner raping me but, you could have been by my side. You didn't have to go somewhere else to get love and affection. I can't even look at you right now. I hope Courtney was worth it, because you've lost me for good. I'm leaving you." Emily was firm with her words, she sounded a lot stronger than she felt. Without waiting for a response from her husband, she gathered the rest of her things from the bedroom and loaded it into her car.
"You know, I really loved you. Part of me wonders if you ever really loved me. Maybe we were meant to meet but, not meant to be. Goodbye Nikolas." Emily took one last look at Nikolas in the driveway, before speeding off.
