Aadhira's POV
"Roohi, rooh, wake up it's time for school." I give up, this girl never sleeps on time and then the next morning she'll not wake up even after a hundred yells.
Think Aadhira think, or else she'll be late and even get you late. An idea clicks my mind and I scream, "Roohi if you don't get up I won't bake with you on the weekend." With this she immediately jumps into my arms.
"Let's go Bhuaji." I laugh, she's very cute. I take her to the bathroom and make her stand on the tiny stool so she can reach the sink and brush her teeth. She's 5 but I still have to help her brush her teeth in the morning because she's too sleepy.
She continues to rub her eyes and squeeze out some toothpaste onto her brush and hand it to her. "Quickly brush your teeth and get into the shower, the towel is also kept over here, don't spend too long picking your outfit. I'm going to prepare breakfast, be out in the next 25 minutes."
She gives me a lazy thumbs up and I slap my head. "Nothing can be fixed of this girl." I murmur leaving the bathroom.
I quickly pour the waffles mixture into the waffle maker and while it cooked in there, I stirred the liquid in the pan that is her hot chocolate.
It's getting chilly in New Delhi and I am loving it, Roohi however isn't taking it well except for the fact she gets delicious breakfasts and doesn't have to eat fruits anymore because of the weather.
The waffle maker's timer goes off and I take it out, placing it on her new flower painted plate she got. I poured her hot chocolate and added marshmallows on top, side by side my coffee as well into my coffee cup.
I carried her breakfast outside, expecting her to be almost ready but only to see she is still sitting in front of the heater, warming her hands.
"Roohi!! What are you doing in front of the heater, I told you to get ready right? I understand it's winter but everyone is dealing with it, I wake up earlier than you. Now come let's quickly pick your clothes and then get you ready." Her large grey green eyes popped open and I chuckled at her sudden reaction.
After exact 9 minutes and 9 seconds, she finally managed to pick her dress (I forced her to pick the dress because we always twin).
She twirled around in her silk beige frock, which had a large bow in the back. Because it's winter i somehow managed to convince her to wear black warm inner wear and black stockings.
I "dragged"her out like this over dramatic human said and made her sit on the chair. She started munching on her waffles and quickly finished her hot chocolate.
I finished my waffles and went into my room and fixed my hair. Applying perfume, I grabbed my blazer and went back outside to see her ready with her school bag. Thank god she is smart like me.
We both left the house and she pressed the lift button while I wore my black boots. "Bhuaji the lift is hereeee," she shouted and I quickly ran, keeping my hand on her mouth shifting into the elevator.
"Don't shout, how many times I've told you. It disturbs everyone else on the floor." I scold her in the elevator. She tilt nods her head and I know something is going on in her head.
"What happened Roohi?" The elevator opened and I looked on the screen displaying the number, goodness gracious, it's 8th floor.
A single mother lives on this floor's room 0808, she is very nice and sweet. We often meet and many times she dropped Roohi when I was getting late for work. Her son is the same age as Roohi.
He is cute but I feel he is a bit clingy to Roohi like I feel the guy needs to maintain social distance from my sweetheart.
"Good morning Roohi Chuhiiii." Mahanth said with a toothy grin and Roohi giggles. "Good morning Mahanth, Good morning Alisha Aunty."
"Good morning Roohi, ready for school after a long Diwali break?" She asked and Roohi vigorously nodded. "Look at my new outfit, I'm all prepared for winter." My baby showed off her new outfit.
Yeah sure 'prepared for winter'. Ma'am I forced you to wear those warmers beneath your dress.
Soon the elevator trip ended and all of us exited the lift. Alisha and Mahanth started walking forward when Alisha stopped and turned around.
"Aadhira look it's almost 7:45, their school starts at 8:30 but your work starts at 8, if you drop Roohi and then leave for work it'll get late, I suggest you to go to the firm and I'll take Roohi with me if it's okay with you?"
I looked at my watch and holy, it is 7:44, I passed her a smile and nodded, "Sorry Alisha, but thank you and that's really nice of you, I apologise for the inconvenience." A scowl covered her face.
"That's how neighbours are supposed to be! Helpful and that's what I'm being right now, and don't say thank you in the matter of kids. Roohi is like my own." She smiled and I nodded.
Bending down I placed a peck on Roohi's chubby cheeks, "Take care and don't annoy aunty, okay?" My eyes lingered for a second on her large eyes and her cute face and then I reluctantly left.
I unlocked my car with my car keys before entering the parking lot and then found my way to it. I opened my car's door and sat in the driver's seat and went off, driving to the law firm I work at.
Do I really have to face him? Like do I really really have to? Why am I his secretary?
Such thoughts corrupted my mind and in no time I reached the firm, it's gonna be a long day even in winters.
Mom once told me that days get shorter during winters but here I feel they are getting longer.
After about what felt like the shortest time because my car is all warmed up and well now I have to step out of this warm space. Ughh.
It's okay Aadhira. Out of car equals 5 minutes plus inside office equals 4 and that in total means you'll be in your warm cozy cabin in 9 minutes exact. Yeah, yeah- you'll survive.
I take a deep breath in and open my car door. My hair immediately starts flying gently and I pick up my black leather bag and hang it on my shoulder.
Locking my car, I keep my car keys in my bag and walk inside with my boots clicking on the floor.
I reach inside and the receptionist passes a warm smile and I reciprocate with a short smile and curt nod.
Outside of office I'm a different person and inside of work I'm different. I groan as I wait for the lift to arrive on the ground floor.
I look at my watch and it's 8 AM. Sharp on time, I was cut off when the elevator opened and I made my way in.
I don't wanna come to office. I whined mentally like kids do when they go to school. Reason? You'll learn very soon.
Stepping out of the elevator on the 23rd floor which is also the last one I entered the cabin adjacent to the larger one.
It's not like mine isn't, both the cabins are almost equal the size. Just the one adjacent to mine is the main office where boss sits and there is a whole another room in there that has files in it, so it's why it's a bit large.
Plopping myself onto the chair, I rested my head on the back and massaged my head.
Roohi has been asking to go see mom and dad and I am not finding time cause I have to work on an important case. What do I do I'm stuck.
A soft thud interrupted my thoughts and I looked in front of me, on my desk a coffee cup sitting with a man standing.
"Come into my cabin, let's talk for sometime you look stressed."——————
Surprise surprise💌I know I said I won't start this until November mid, but then I have two reasons to this.
1. I wasn't able to finish writing Teri Sifarish's next chapter so I postponed it and decided to post this because I had it ready and written.
2. I am feeling very supported and happy because of the amazing love shown on my spoilers for this book and I couldn't control myself from sharing a small piece of the book before release date.
The season falling in this book is November so keep in mind and I hope you enjoyed it.
