Whizzer and Marvin! (Part 12)

The holiday season approached, and Marvin found himself looking forward to it in a way he hadn't since he was a kid. He and Jason had started planning their holiday decorations, and Joe had even helped them pick out a tree. Marvin's home was filled the scent of pine and gingerbread, laughter echoing through the rooms as they strung lights and hung ornaments.

One evening, as snow fell softly outside the window, they gathered in the living room with cups of hot cocoa, their faces lit by the twinkling lights of the tree. Jason was busy reading aloud from a holiday storybook, his eyes bright as he shared each detail, while Joe listened with rapt attention.

When Jason finally fell asleep, curled up on the couch under a thick blanket, Marvin looked at Joe with a quiet smile. "Thank you," he said, his voice barely more than a whisper. "For being here. For... well, for everything."

Joe reached out, taking Marvin's hand in his. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

They sat in comfortable silence, listening to the gentle crackle of the fireplace. Marvin felt the warmth of Joe's hand in his, grounding him, reminding him that he was allowed to feel this peace, this sense of closeness. He knew the journey here had been long and difficult, filled with moments of doubt and fear, but he had finally where he could accept this new happiness without guilt.

After a while, Joe spoke, his voice soft and steady. "Do you ever wonder what Whizzer would think? About all this, about you and Jason and... us?"

Marvin nodded, his gaze drifting to the tree as he gathered his thoughts. "I do," he admitted, feeling the familiar ache of missing Whizzer. "But I think he's want me to be happy. He'd want us both to move forward, to find joy in the lives we have. Whizzer... he was always so alive, so full of energy and hope. I think he'd understand"

Joe squeezed his hand, a quiet reassurance. "I think so too."
