When they were in the Oni temple he felt it. It had always been there barely noticeable, he had no need to acknowledge it, but when he did now it seemed to swirl excitedly in response as if it wanted to be free. He of course ignored it and focused on his elemental power instead just as he'd always done.

The power was screaming at him to let it out. When Harumi started chanting, the power surged it wanted out and it wanted out now. You can't let her bring him back. It ordered. He didn't let it out. Though, it was harder this time not to, especially when they had a common goal.

Harumi held him, he watched in horror as his friends were murdered right in front of his eyes, something inside of him broke, and the power that was always so easily ignored, was now coiled so tightly around his chest. It wanted out; it wanted to wipe the smug smile off of Harumi's face. But that was what Harumi wanted wasn't it? He couldn't let her win. With that fixed firmly in his mind, he managed to escape without letting it loose.

When his elemental power was gone the urges became painfully intense. Almost at least once a day he had to use very bit of self- restraint not to let it out. The powers were swirling with excitement, when he was offered the mask of hatred. 'Wear it.' the power cooed. 'Let me out, take the city back.'

"But at what cost?" He thought back.

This was a bad idea. Cold, cold, cold. His lungs couldn't seem to get enough air,

I could help. The power offered.

He fell to his knees. He shouldn't have done it, but maybe because he was so panicked he didn't even think about it. He accepted the power gladly and he could breathe again. The power didn't even try to take over once during their time in the cloud. He couldn't say he wasn't grateful it kept him focused on the thing at hand.

After the battle with the Oni, the power hadn't bothered him for some time. Almost as if it had been subdued, he didn't complain. It was nice not to argue with yourself when you were fighting bad guys.

The protection lasted for about a year. Then after Nya became one with the sea, it came back. It was quiet but it sat just under the surface, waiting.

His elemental powers were subdued by the venge stone; he didn't care if he used the Oni power but he had to wipe that smug expression from Harumi's face, she had killed his family. She had taken everything from him. So for the first time in his life he accepted the power willingly.

He was so annoyed, but not to the point of letting it out but it was close he could tell. He knew that it was the Oni form they were trying to achieve but he still fought against it. He'd seen what the power could do what his father had done with it. He knew of course that it was wasting valuable time. That he should just accept it, Wu was right if this was the only way to defeat the Overlord then he should just use the dumb powers, but then again he wasn't in complete control when he used them, and he could possibly turn on his team.

He didn't. Lloyd's body tensed, he glared at Garmadon fists clenched at his sides. He didn't know he'd summoned the power to his hands till Kai pointed it out. He freaked out; he hadn't even meant to. The lessons were working; the Oni powers were getting stronger. But his elemental power was getting weaker in response.

When his father stopped moving something within him broke, he sobbed, his grief burned way to anger. And the Oni power came to his call. It rushed through every ounce of his body; it had never been this strong before. But it felt good, it felt right. But it wasn't enough to defeat the Overlord, Not yet. He channeled his rage through his face like his father said and something happened, whatever it was it felt good. The Oni part of him took over and he attacked.
