Run, Jump. Run, Jump. Run, Jump. Run .... SMACK!
You were running track, jumping over the hurdles. When suddenly your leg smacked into a hurdle that you were trying to jump over. Your other leg twisted on the ground, and a pain seared through your entire body.
You were in first place and about to make it to nationals. You didn't want it to end here. Yet it was, it was ending here, your leg felt like it had snapped in half.
" AH! "
You screamed out loud, gripping your knee that was throbbing in pain. Had you torn it? Maybe a bone had been broken? You could barely hear the muffled sounds of your older sister Kiyoko's voice.
" Y/N! Hang in there. The ambulance is on its way! "
Kiyoko said. However, you could barely hear her due to the ringing in your ears that continued to get louder and louder. The pain was unbearable as you started to lose consciousness.
When you woke up, you were in a hospital bed. Your leg was wrapped in a bandage, and so was your head. Turns out that when you had fallen, you hit your head on the ground, causing a concussion.
You looked around the room, the lights seemingly brighter than usual as you covered your eyes with one of your hands. Your head was still throbbing in pain.
" Y/N? Are you awake? "
You heard your sisters voice, her tone filled with worry.
" Kiyoko? "
You questioned as you peeked through your fingers, looking at your sister who was sitting on a chair next to your hospital bed. Her brows were furrowed as she gripped your other hand with hers.
" Y/N... I'm so glad you are okay. You had me worried. You've been out for a few days. The concussion was worse than the doctors thought. They said there isn't any brain damage. "
Kiyoko rubbed your hand with her fingers. The doctor entered the room, looking at the two sisters who seemed like they were very close. They seemed to have a good bond/relationship.
" Good morning. I see that Y/N is awake? "
The doctor said with a soft smile, walking over to the two. Y/N nodded her head, removing her hand from her eyes despite the fact that the lights were too bright for her to handle.
" Good morning. "
You said softly, waving your hand at the doctor who sat down on a chair, holding a clipboard in their hand.
" So, Y/N, we have some bad news. Thankfully, your concussion will heal. Though you may have some memory issues and possibly some seizures due to the spot where you hit your head. "
The doctor started to explain. You listened to the doctors words. Everything sounded pretty good so far, but then you heard the next words come out of the doctors mouth.
" You've torn your ACL. You unfortunately won't be able to continue your running career. "
Your eyes widened, brows furrowing.
" What?! No! That can't be right, I love running track! I don't want to give this up! "
You said. Your lips started quivering as you shook your head, gripping Kiyoko's hand even tighter.
" I'm sorry, Y/N, but if you tear it again, you won't be able to walk. I'm sure you don't want to risk losing the use of your leg. There are plenty of other things you can do, but running is out of the question. "
The doctor explained. You looked at Kiyoko with pleading eyes, hoping she would do something. This couldn't be real, right? The doctor had to be joking, right? Your whole life couldn't end like this, right? Track was your dream. Was it ending here?
