Soulmates or Friends?

Bill has the last way of finding his soulmate, letting his soulmate feel all his pain and take it away if they wanted. Unfortunately, Bill was very clumsy as a kid and would always get himself hurt, sometimes just small bruises while sometimes he would get seriously injured.

He would always fall, get pushed into something, anything really. And one of his most serious injuries was when he hit his head on the corner of a sharp edged table that made his head bleed like crazy, but in the matter of two minutes, the pain and cut was gone. His soulmate has taken it again.

Bill learned from a young age of 6 years old, that soulmates are bonds to another person and they can do things for one another.

Bill was always a crybaby whenever he got injured, it was a family gene because even his little brother was like that. Georgie, Bill's little brother, already found his soulmate at an early age of 11 as they met based on their hair color streaks.

Bill is currently still 13 years old though you need to be 14 years old so you can meet your soulmate. Luckily for Bill, he's turning 14 in a week. Short time, isn't it?

When Bill was younger, his parents seemed skeptical of why Bill's injuries would always heal in such a small time. The doctor stated that the only possible or logical explanation to it is Bill's soulmate, who's able to take away Bill's pain and take it for their own.

And that made Bill hate himself, for letting someone else like his soulmate take away so much pain from him. Oh did he wish his soulmate had hospital insurance for all the Injuries.

When you really realize that someone you don't even know is taking all the pain from you because they're your soulmate, you really start feeling guilty of yourself. Bill hasn't even met his soulmate yet and he already feels bad for them, but whoever they were, they were helping Bill a lot but his guilt is still evident.

He wished so much times, and prayed that he could also take away his soulmate's pain as well. Who knows how many broken bones and stitches his soulmate has because of Bill?

Bill also had a best friend named Richie. Richie and his soulmate could hear each other's thoughts as for that, they can also hear bits and bits of words from one another. From Richie's rants about his soulmate, Bill has now known that his soulmate had lots of medical issues, is a germaphobe, and is a boy named Eddie or something.

And, Some rumors had been coming around earlier that week that people used to be homophobic back then before the soulmate system. But now, this isn't a thing anymore for same gender mates. Your soulmate isn't a choice of yours, so you had to grow to them so why would anyone be homophobic? It never made sense to Bill why someone even thought of that.

Now at their school, Bill walked over to his friend Richie who was opening his locker. Bill lightly hit Richie's arm, getting his attention.

“H-Hey, You hj-hear a-anything a-about yuh-your b-boy this wuh-weekend?”

Bill teased, knowing Richie had a soft spot for his soulmate even though they still haven't met themselves.

“But I sure did hear a lot from you mum la—”

“B-Beep, beep. Richie.”. Bill said to Richie, rolling his eyes playfully.

“B-But seriously, d-did you h-hear a-anything?”

Richie sighed then nodded his head, before throwing a math textbook of his in a trash can next to the lockers. It wasn't really the end of the year yet, there was about 4 months left but Richie never cared about his grades while Bill was the complete opposite.

“Yeah yeh, I did. He keeps getting these thoughts about getting bullied, because he's moving somewhere to go to public school. And he keeps thinking about some boy named Stan that's his friend or something, and he's also gonna move to public school from online school.”. Richie grinned as he gave the newest information he heard, meanwhile Bill smiled clearly impressed.

“W-Wow, you h-heard a l-lot this t-time.”. Bill smiled, nudging Richie's shoulder playfully. “W-When is he star-starting?”

”Tomorrow I think.”. Richie mumbled, going back his memories then nodding. “Yeah, He's starting tomorrow.”

Soulmates don't know each other until they've both reached the age of 14. Even if one of them are 14, they both have to reach the age before knowing each other. Even if your ways of finding your soulmate is listening to each other's thoughts, you still wouldn't be allowed to say each other's names or identities.

Even if Bill still had a week until he turned 14, he wished his soulmate was already 14 so he can finally meet his soulmate already. So he can see how much damage he gave his soulmate from the years of his getting injured.

“You n-never know, R-Richie. Maybe h-he’s starting h-here?”. Bill teased, knowing just how to lift up Richie's mood.

Bill's words instantly lifted up Richie's mood, his lips curling up in a smile. “..Maybe.” “Just maybe.”
