Sunghoon sipped his lemonade slowly, eyeing Sunoo with raised eyebrows as his friend demolished a large pile of fries, all while ranting about a couple from his dance club. The two lovebirds apparently spent more time in each other’s faces than on their dance moves, and Sunoo had opinions.

“They’re so disgusting, man,” Sunoo said, cramming a fry into his mouth. “If I have to watch them hold hands during warm-ups one more time, I’m staging an intervention.”

Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, amused. “You’re staging an intervention on holding hands? Weren’t you just preaching about positivity and love three days ago?”

“That was before I realized love was this nauseating,” Sunoo groaned dramatically, shoving another fry in his mouth. Sunghoon smirked, unable to resist.

“And speaking of nauseating,” he added with a sarcastic side-eye, “isn’t this the same guy who made a huge scene about being on a diet just two days ago when I tried to buy him a burger?”

Sunoo’s mouth fell open, a fry hovering mid-air. He put a hand to his chest, looking deeply offended. “Are you… food-shaming me, Park Sunghoon? Your new bestie?” His voice dropped to a wounded tone, as if they were in a tragic soap opera. “My own best friend, judging me for eating fries in my moment of need?”

“Trust me, if anyone’s judging you, it’s the fries. And they’re screaming for help." Sunghoon said with an eye roll. “And what do you mean by 'moment of need'? You sound like you’re going through a crisis. You’re just eating fries, Sunoo.”

Sunoo scoffed, crossing his arms. “This is a crisis. A crisis of the heart. Those two lovebirds are sucking all the joy out of my club, so I need fries for emotional support, okay?”

“Right,” Sunghoon drawled, shaking his head. “Just admit you can’t stick to a diet for more than 48 hours.”

Sunoo gasped dramatically, clutching his chest as if he’d been wounded. “I am offended. You’re supposed to be on my side, not criticizing me. Where’s the loyalty?”

“Oh, I’m loyal, all right,” Sunghoon said with a smirk, “to the truth.”

Sunoo shot him a glare, shoving a fry into his mouth in defiance. “Whatever, I don’t need your negativity. One day, this truth is going to bite you back, Park Sunghoon.”

Sunghoon just shrugged, unbothered. “By then, I’ll probably be in jail anyway.”

They both chuckled, and after a beat, Sunoo straightened up. “Anyway, traitor, only one week left till exams finish. You do realize you only have just a week left to submit that evidence to the police station, right? Otherwise, I’m not bailing you out when they come knocking.”

Sunghoon waved a hand dismissively. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I don’t need a countdown.”

Sunoo shrugged. “Just making sure you’re not going to slack. I like visiting you at the café, not in a jail cell.”

Sunghoon shook his head, then lowered his voice. “And as if that wasn’t enough, the principal dragged me into his office today.”

Sunoo’s eyes widened. “Ooh, for what?”

“To talk about all this drama, obviously. Turns out that anonymous lady—Min Ryung—has been on his case, nonstop. She’s demanding that he expels me and ships me off to jail soon.”

Sunoo rolled his eyes, exasperated. “Seriously? Why can’t he just tell us her name outright? Like, does he think we’ll go full WWE on her if we know?”

“Trust me,” Sunghoon snorted, “he’s probably terrified for his college's reputation. But he says it’s ‘confidential’ and he can’t tell us.”
